I said Dave wasn’t concerned with hiring for Midwest recruiting. He was hiring a guy he trusted as a coach.

Well you can't really bring in a guy to help you recruit without giving him a position to coach.
I am sure Dave hired him because he thought he was a good coach AND it helped him recruit the Midwest like I mentioned.
So let me ask you this then, were our safeties/DBs garbage before Aranda/Busch was hired? Raymond has been on staff for over decade and put plenty of talent in to the NFL. Recently at that. The guy didn't suddenly get worse. If that's the case why did we even keep him and give him raises for years?

Is he replaceable? Sure. I am just laughing at the fact that literally NO ONE on this board wanted Raymond to leave but when he does somehow he was an overrated garbage coach. It's absurd.

I'm not going to lay all of the culture issues for his position group all on Raymond. Yeah, either he helped to cause it (to minor degree) or didn't do much to course correct it (more likely, to some unknown degree). But it isn't isolated so it can't be him, all him. To me that just doesn't pass the smell test. Frankly, I think it is the bad side of him being a good recruiter; seems to be a contagion for the 5*'s... which he is damn good at reeling in.
Now, if we want revenge, and I do because it's a combination of being a LSU guy and competitive nature, the best way to do it is not ad hominem attacks but to compliment him, go hire a great OC, and torch UF through the air every year he's there.
That should be the focus now.

Yeah I understand the sentiment, but you replaced him with a truly truly awful defensive backs coach? You know how you all watch OU defensive backs miss tackles and fail to make plays on the ball and then laugh? You just hired the former leader of that crew!

He's coached outside of LA for 3 years in his career, let's see how he does without guaranteed talent.

I loved Corey Raymond as a coach and he was the one coach I wish Kelly would of kept. But if he ain’t with us he’s against us, frick em from here on out, I hate saban for going to bama and now I hate Raymond for going to fricking Florida. .

Raymond was an elite recruiter. Ron Cooper was a much better on field coach.
