Christopher Nolan in Discussions to Direct the Next Two James Bond Films

A source of mine told me on Tuesday evening that Christopher Nolan is in very serious contention to direct the next James Bond instalment.
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is zeroing in on Nolan. I was told there were discussions with the filmmaker to helm the film, but no deal has been struck just yet, and the strike, not to mention Nolan promoting “Oppenheimer,” further delayed talks.
The main issue right now seems to be the amount of creative freedom Nolan wants for the film. Broccoli’s backups, currently, seem to be Danny Boyle, Denis Villeneuve, and Paul Greengrass. There were also rumors of Matthew Vaughn being in contention, but my source tells me he hasn’t heard his name mentioned at all.
Broccoli rarely gives carte blanche to her filmmakers, there’s usually a blueprint in how to make a Bond film, but Nolan wants to take over the entire process, which is understandable because, you know, he’s Christopher Nolan.
The deal being negotiated would be for two Bond films directed by Nolan, who would also be writing the script. Still no word yet on who the actor playing Bond would be, but some encouraging signs are pointing towards Aaron Taylor-Johnson taking over the role.

Yeah no shite

This isn’t going to happen. No chance they give Nolan the freedom to do what he wants. I’d love it though.
Ditto to Villeneuve. I don’t see them having that vision.
Boyle could make competent Bond films that follow the playbook.
Is Greengrass even a thing anymore? What’s the last good film he has made?

Oh okay, cool.
I hope this doesn’t happen. Bond movies aren’t my thing and I’d much rather see Nolan be able to think outside the box and make good, pretty original movies.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson makes sense to me.

This could be epic.
Haven’t had a truly great Bond since Casino Royale

I’ll be skeptical until an official announcement is made and filming is underway. I’ll say this though, if either Nolan or Villeneuve direct a Bond movie, it will immediately be at or near the top of best Bond film ever

If this is even still true, that blueprint has been changed significantly with pretty much all of the Craig movies. Why not let a proven great director change it again?

Skyfall was the best Craig bond film. Yeah, I said it.

Hey Chris
Pay Henry Cavill whatever he wants
Make it a period piece set in the late 60s.
Have fun.

Right. No reason to continue the current narrative. Reset and have the Mad Men vibe.
