Does anyone else hate living in Baton Rouge?

I love LSU as much as anyone, but the city itself is so awful. Traffic is a literal nightmare, there isn't much beauty except by the lakes, and I feel like so many people are stuck up. I'm either not living in the right part, I need to gtfo, or both. I feel like nothing changes, and anything that does change, it's for the worse. College Drive made me want to punch kittens today. Never seen a more clusterfrick street in my life than how it was today. NOLA has problems like BR with politics and crime, but there is charm and more things to do there than here.
Long story short, I'm here more due to circumstance than choice. Ready to start a new chapter somewhere else. End rant.

I lived in Baton Rouge for 22 years. After college, I moved to NOLA. A little over a year later, I moved to Dallas.
Every year since I left Baton Rouge I have been happier than the one before. If you want to get out, get out. The world is a big place.

The whole state sucks though.

But I love Louisiana.
What other city would you rather live in?
BR has its issues of course, but the positives FAR FAR outweigh the negatives

If it weren’t for family here, many of us would live (or seriously consider living) somewhere else.

My wife won't move (unless we had to for employment reasons) while my daughter is in school. She has 6 years left. The only issue then will be that my parents will be mid to late 70s at that time.
I'd prefer to live somewhere with seasons and some terrain.

My folks lived there for 40+ years and I lived there for my first 20 years. It was pretty great back in the day; particularly in the 80’s. I left in 2000 and never looked back. I started to dislike it even visiting the folks there. After Katrina, everything really went down hill. After my old man retired in 2014 my folks couldn’t sell the house and get the hell out of there fast enough.

Move to St. George. It’s becoming.

Yeah, in my 7 years of this board, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that

BR has zero personality or culture. Possibly the most "meh" city in the south.

Where’d you go Fonz? And where did your folks end up?

I lived in BR from 2006 to 2010 and would not move back unless my salary at least doubled. I had business to conduct in BR today and thought to myself how glad I am that I moved an hour away at that time in my life.
I’m now 45 minutes from downtown NOLA, one hour from downtown BR, 2 1/2 hours from the beach, have excellent public schools, zero crime rate, and a nice home for my family. I’d move to Texas tomorrow if my in laws were not so close as they are now. They help a great deal with the kids.

Well I bet that felt good!
I feel the same exact way, and my recent travels for work have exacerbated this mindset.
