Down in Central Florida is the largest retirement community in the world. The Villages is called everything: from a mega-swingers community to The Truman Show, to an STD superspreader event. Many of the locals call it pure paradise. Join me today to see what everyone's talking about.

What a fascinating video!

Watched this last week.
I’ve never wanted to pack my bags and move somewhere faster. Looks like heaven on earth

I guess, if ur into geriatric, post-menopausal women … Then you can have ‘em .
I didn’t click the link but i did see an article a few weeks back about the Villages, which id heard long ago was the STD capital of the US- but this article said that people advertise their various ‘kinks’ and ‘lifestyles’ via whichever color loofah sponge they attach to the antenna of their golf cart.. i guess if i were an 85 yr old guy hunting for a 60 yr old ‘younger’ woman, that wouldnt be so bad .

Saw that video and that place is massive and has everything. The woman doing the ride along with Santenello denied the swinger stuff but said it's possible there was some of it going on.
Santenello and Mark Laita (Soft White Underbelly) are two of my favorite follows on YouTube. Laita recently released this interview with a man who had an encounter with John Wayne Gacy as a kid and was able to escape. In the interview the guy states that a Chicago cop told him Gacy frequented vacation areas like the Wisconsin Dells and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin looking for young boys, who were vacationing with their families. To this day my brother, who is not prone to hyperbole, swears Gacy approached him at an amusement park in Gurnee, IL as he and I were running in the parking lot to catch the charter bus back to Madison after winning a trip to the park selling newspaper subscriptions. The guy stopped him but I yelled to my brother we had to hustle to catch the bus. This would have happened in '74 or '75, which lines up with Gacy's timeline. I vaguely recollect it. Interesting interview.

The “bubble” is right and nothing wrong with that.
Driving a golf cart around to eat cheeseburgers and play golf every day in perfect weather most of the time. Count me in.

Ran into a couple who lived there on a cruise, and he described it exactly like this video. Main mode of transportation is golf carts, they have restaurants, shopping, entertainment, all a golf cart ride away. Sounds great if you are okay with close neighbors.

They don't know how to party, Orleans Parish has an STD rate 17 to 20 times higher than those Villages.

I live in The Villages, and I wouldn’t think of living any other place. If you love golf, it is the place to be. We rotate 13 different courses with 3 more soon to open, and most of the courses are very good. Most people play the executive courses because they are free, but I stick to the championship courses. There are over 3 million rounds a year played down here.
If you aren’t in to golf, The Villages probably has something for you from dragon boat clubs to softball. Gym membership is free, the health care is good, and this place goes out of its way to keep you active which keeps you young. I played golf with an 89 year old the other day who shot a 74. His secret to a good life is that his g/f cannot show up before 5 and has to go home by 9.
We are in a bubble, and it is great. If you aren’t already 55, you will get there. Might as well live like a millionaire at budget rates when the time comes.

I almost got a job there but ended up working in prison medicine.
Seems like it would have been the same thing.

I have a good friend who lives there. It’s freaking awesome, especially when the snowbirds go back north and it’s not so crowded.

i dont give a frick about the sex or kinky part
but a homogeneous society of people mainly my age to hang around with in retirement?? golf, great weather, awesome things to do...sounds pretty awesome to me. also hardly any crime
wtf else do you want in retirement other than spending time with your grandkids?

Don't buy this bullshite. Ask anyone who lives there about this type of stuff, and they'll look at you like you're crazy. Nobody gave a shite about The Villages until they held some Trump rallies. Then it was deemed something to be destroyed.

My father-in-law lives there with his girlfriend. He's one of the few that live there full-time. We've visited once so far. It truly is a bubble. I felt like we were in the Truman Show. My kids and I were joking the whole time that when it came time to leave somehow we'd be unable to escape. It's an impressive development, but don't think I could retire there. I want acreage.
My father-in-law came to visit us recently. The local HBCU was having graduation and a lot of the folks in for that were staying in the same hotel he was. He told us, "I really do live in a bubble. I haven't seen this many blacks in years". I just shook my head.

My father-in-law's only complaint is the service work force. But it makes sense the restaurants having a hard time to find good workers when everyone that lives around there is already retired.

Sounds miserable.
To each their own though.
