I paid $40k for my truck last year, it’s now worth $18k

I bought a used Tahoe last year for $40k and have it paid off and was looking to sell it or trade it in. I just looked at the instant offer on KBB and it was just north of $18k. What’re my options? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Keep driving it until the wheels fall off

Wait for the next pandemic….
Until then, drive it until the wheels fall off.

Keep it
Run it off into a river, claim it was stolen
Sell it for $18k
Look for a private party buyer for more

$40k for a used truck?
Damn.
You could have gotten a new truck for less than that last year.

Put your wife on only fans to recoup the 20k. Should take a few months if she’s ok with PIIHB action.

if you just bought it last year, who cares? worry about it in 5 years when maybe it's time to get a new car/truck

This math isn’t adding up, how is it only worth 18k when you paid 40k last year?

You should see about getting a bailout from the feds

Keep it. It's paid off. Or sell it in a private sale. You are always going to get taken advantage of by trading it in or using KBB, Carmax, etc.

Post the details of the truck for even more fun

18k is a lowball instant offer. Reality, probably lost 10k in a year because the used market was that inflated.

You either paid way too much when you bought it, or you made a mistake when you entered the info into KBB.

I bought it last October from a dealership in Denham. I just looked at KBB and $18k was the number they gave me
