Why? Not surprisingly, we entirely disagree. I passionately do not want Texas, the destroyer of conferences.

They couldn't destroy the SEC. UT > SWC. UT > B12. UT < SEC.

Why did the SEC stay quiet all this time and now near D-day, look like they are scrambling for sub-par pieces in an effort keep up?

I'm still of the mentality that we should aspire for Quality over Quantity. The SEC is the pinnacle conference of football. The only team that is rumored to not be interested in the SEC at all is UT...and I'm happy by that.

We are allegedly in negotiations with TAMU, OU, FSU, da U, and VaTech...not really subpar programs IMO

i'm worried ESPN may just tell us to frick off and sign the pac16 then. it makes as much sense

is ESPN going to jump the deal $40M/year?

adding the TX and DC markets will justify increasing the take from the CBS and ESPN deals though since adding extra teams triggers a renegotiation clause.

I wonder if the ACC will have any more losses. So far they have been the quietest conference, along with the Big East.

I assume that the four North Carolina schools and Maryland are solid, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the "football" schools look around.

a.) the most reliable source through this has not backed up the OU story.

b.) UF would be VERY against adding FSU, and I'm not sure whyt he SEC would want to piss off it's best program.

Florida State in the SEC might hurt Florida so I'm all for it.

Supposedly Slive has been in contact with the most desired players (at least texas, A&m, OU, ok state) for months so they haven't been caught completely unawares

OU, A&M, Va Tech are not subpar pieces - only Texas or Notre Dame are more lucrative schools that might be had at this point

I get your argument that the Big 10 and Pac-10 are expanding into bigger tv-markets and that very few schools we could add would do anything to add markets or financially strong athletic departments, therefore we shouldn't expand.

My guess: If the SEC is moving on ANYTHING, then they've already had talks to renegotiate the tv deals. Even if it's just for a little more money to counterbalance the new teams. If you are adding 4 major sports programs, regardless of their local TV market, your potential revenue goes up.

Yeah, getting the nation's 3rd or 4th largest media market, depending on how you count, is probably worth renegotiating a TV deal. VT is a real prize if they are in the SEC.

Slo, SEC/ESPN will renegotiate, brah. Best conference just got better and added two huge markets/schools. Everybody wins.

great. plus LSU has OU on the schedule already for 2012 and 2013.

I hope this version is true.

I guess in a week it will all settle out.

Without any way to prove it via links, I heard Fox is interested in signing the Pac 16 to a TV deal.

Ok I did get some work done, hence the low posts today. I kept refreshing though.
