so 2016,2017,2018 didnt happen? it wasnt a slow build getting better and better all year before it fell off a cliff after 2019?

look i fricking hate what O did to our program but lets not act like there werent some things out of his control

1) covid
2) NIL and transfer portal became legal & lsu was naive AF and thought it was going to be real NIL so no plan in place for the pay for play model

3) BLM and ryan clark's BS

now not saying his personal life didnt spiral out of control and didnt effect things. but frick his wife relapsed, refused to go to rehab, got caught cheating on him....all while all that above was going on.

Im not taking up for him or trying to tell you have sympathy, but lets not act like he didnt have a really good 4 year run including the intern year and lets not act like some shite wasnt out of his control.

What position is Ed taking at lsu?

He is the new custodian of Mike's cage.

This is what Saints fans felt when they promoted Allen.

At least Allen was good in his dc role. Hall is pretty mid as oc and was similarly terrible as a head coach.

You left off his last 2 years at LSU clown.

2020. 5-5

2021 6-6

He meddled in the offense. He meddled in the defense. He was his worst enemy. He's lucky LSU didn't fire him for cause.

Was Coach O ever truly considered for the Tulane job?

Shannon Dawson would have been a better hire.

Have to think they were scared off by the thought of waiting on him to be done at Miami and just wanted to get it over.

I know they were in a pinch when Baker pulled his name, but how do you justify giving that job to someone who went 8-19 (14-30 overall) in the Sun Belt?

They have to beleieve he is a good coach and will have other people build the roster, right? His big issue at USM was that he couldn't get good players.

The clown who posted that said he had one good season, which is provably false. Go make another shitty thread that you get dragged in.

Hall is popular in football circles uptown. I think promoting him is less risky then say, Pete Golding at OM

This is risky man. I had hoped that Tulane would keep making inspired choices but this could go poorly

Just a pathetic search process and result. If Tulane loses more than 2 conference games next year then Hall and the AD should be fired immediately

Yikes.

I really thought Tulane would be able to do better than that considering the momentum they’ve got going for them.

I think it's clear that Ed told them he's taking a position at LSU and pulled his name from consideration.
Why is that “clear”?

Maybe they're hoping Will Hall + money = better results. Like Fritz

Fritz before NIL

2016 Tulane 4–8 1–7 6th (West)
2017 Tulane 5–7 3–5 5th (West)
2018 Tulane 7–6 5–3 T–1st (West)
2019 Tulane 7–6 3–5 4th (West)
2020 Tulane 6–6 3–5 T–7th
2021 Tulane 2–10 1–7

Fritz after NIL:

2022 Tulane 12–2 7–1
2023 Tulane 11–2 8–0

May also be putting all their chips into this year. Thanks to the current state of CFB, moving on from Will Hall and hiring outside (after other programs have had their pick) risks this year's current postseason run.

I mean, he WAS the head coach, right? I don't think anything a head coach does is called "meddling"

They promoted the wrong assistant. Greg Gasporato should have got the nod
