Would CBK consider him as a DC?

No, he'll get another year at Baylor.

With the uncertainty of that conference. You would think he would consider coming back as a DC . You would think he’s made a lot of connections in this area for recruiting also.

Should be in BR the morning after he’s canned.

Without having visibility into his buyout situation, a Baylor friend of mine seemed to think there was a decent chance if he finishes 3-9. They are 12-point dogs against TCU next weekend and then finish with WVU so that would definitely be plausible.

I like Aranda as a coach and think he could coach guys up and get a lot of the fundamental issues with this defense fixed.

But what about recruiting? We all know he’s just not that guy and never will be. We had O helping him on the defensive side as a head coach before. We would have to put a killer recruiting staff around him for it to work on that front.

I don’t think this makes the answer for Aranda an automatic no, but there are questions that have to be answered.

Have to imagine his buyout is around 8 figures with that extension he got. It might sound crazy but I think BK would have a great pitch to bring him in as lead/senior analyst. Aranda could have time to reset while still be involved, he could live in the film room and walkthrough room he was responsible for. There would also be familiarity for him and his family. The LB room has talent and a good group of prospects coming in.

The thought of Aranda as DC gives me wood.

I thought Dave was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Funny how that works.

I think he was pretty damn good as a DC! I’m not sure given the chance to come back to LSU as a DC he would. I would love to see it. As far as recruiting ,LSU definitely needs to step it up in that area . Having him as a DC and Denbrock as an OC , I think go a long way in attracting recruits.

sounds good at first thought, but these things never work out because its hard to go back to not being the boss after you were the boss for years. the mental side of that just makes people not want to settle and then hes looking to leave after 1 year

I mean his borderline retarded DL coach jumped over him to become HC at LSU and he didn't throw a tantrum about it.

We'd have to surround him with recruiters at position coaches, but another thing I'd love about hiring Aranda is that he wouldn't really be a risk to leave again for a while. Could have a decade with him at LSU under Kelly.

Not every coordinator is meant to be a head coach. I think a lot of us thought he'd get 3* guys at Baylor and coach them up and have a really solid senior laden team every few years. The drop off this year isn't great, I didn't see him having a floor this low. I kind of saw him being a Kirk Ferentz at Iowa.

I'd like to see Aranda and Corey Raymond back together next season. We shouldn't have allowed Corey to leave Baton Rouge after the game this weekend. Just had contracts ready for his signature. Give him recruiting/DB/safety responsibility with a big $ amount. Napier next on chopping block anyway. Starting working on Aranda negotiations now in preperation of him losing next two games and being ousted. Let Corey handle recruiting and Aranda calling plays. This could be sewn up by first of December and really solve a lot of our problems...very easily.

How often do you see a head coach get fired with multi million severance and then take an assistant coach job the next year?
