Because he’s not leaving. Even Lane Kiffin, king of the failing up douches wouldn’t peace out on a team that’s 10-1, in the playoff and is a real contender for the NC.

In a nutshell, Sexton is playing all the schools involved to make his client the highest paid coach in all the land, some dude on here just made up a story about Kiffin being a done deal to LSU, presser at 5, and a bunch of saps fell for it and the rest want to believe.

That is all. In the end it will be a coach that nobody has discussed. My gut says Dinardo.

Even so Kiffin has until the Egg Bowl to decide.
So Ole Miss really done us all a favor by giving that timeline. If he does decide to stay at Ole Miss or go to Florida it gives us time to hire another coach.

He already has a contract on the table that will make him the highest paid. I think he wants more and consistent NIL funding to truly compete.

Remember last year when they spent a lot of money in the portal but Judkins wanted more and they couldn't afford to pay him and give money to the portal guys. He went to Ohio State. Revenue share helps combat this, and they did spend money again this year. I still go back to the Monday press conference Lane had the week of our game. He specifically mentioned the defensive players we got in the portal and that one made more than about 5 of his guys (not quoting specifically but somewhere around that). He was, in a nutshell, saying that he needs more funding. Whether Ole Miss can afford to give him that amount consistently every year is the question.

Lane also knows they benefitted from a weaker schedule this year than last. He also knows that it will get much tougher with the 9 game SEC schedule and the rotations. That's going through his mind and whether or not he feels he can sustain long term success there. He has built Ole Miss to a nice program, but he wants more. I'm sure he would possibly like to do it there, but wants to know if the admin can build the infrastructure to not just compete for a championship but win it. That's why he hasn't signed yet. If Ole Miss is willing to work with him on that front, I believe he will stay.

Yes because Ole Miss is known for playing for any championship in the last 75 years. Thats why.

They literally played the exact same SEC team they did last year.

They won the SEC in 1963, so it hasn't quite been 75 years. 62 years is how long it has been since they last won the conference.

Why did BK leave ND before playoffs?

That ND team didn’t and wasn’t making playoffs they lost to Cincinnati who took their place.

He's having an amazing season at Ole Miss. They are dang near locks for the playoffs. But even they, they would be a longshot at being favored over teams like Ohio State and Georgia.

As good as Lane has been, he hasn't ever had a top 15 recruiting class there. That means his ceiling will always be somewhat limited in Oxford. The LSU job, and tbh the UF job as well would not have the same ceiling.

To come to LSU. One of the very best jobs in the country. It’s not that complex.

Saban was 49 when he came to lsu

Lane is 50 currently.

That makes it make sense to me.

Unfortunately, the only rational explanation of events is that Kiffin is using LSU to extract concessions from Ole Miss.

Could be true but it’s certainly not the only rational explanation

Why would he allow so much drama and distraction to happen during that time?
That’s the more pertinent question.

Recruiting classes and their rankings are not nearly as important today with the transfer portal. A top 20 recruiting class with a smart run in the portal is as good as any Top 5 recruiting class alone.

This is not true.
NIL can get you great starters, but high school recruiting is still the foundation for good depth. That’s the issue lane has had, especially last year. His starters are very good, but his depth is a serious issue.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. If true, that is a highly unusual strategy by Ole Miss.

Edit: now that I reflect, how could Ole Miss even level such an ultimatum or enforce it? Kiffin could just claim he was staying, then leave at season's end in any event. I suppose they could try to force Kiffin to agree to some draconian penalty for leaving. I'm not certain that would even be enforceable. Just a bizarre situation.

The timeline predicates Ole Miss having to be strong - we are in a clown world where the timing makes it weird for any coaching trying to leave but also being involved in a CFP run. It's a college football problem that they made the calendar make zero sense.

Why would you start another thread asking the same question that's been asked in two dozen other threads? Because some people just do some things.
