A little confused on why Brady would personally recommend to coach O theses two that are currently on his coaching staff? What’s the advantage for Brady I mean he’s now lost two people on his staff that needs to be replaced. Did he sell us his garbage?

The salaries of these two are going to increase by several multiples. What would it say about Joe Brady to his current staff and potential hires if he selfishly didn't promote his guys, as you would apparently recommend?

Yeah. Great way for a young coach to assure his continued rise : be self-interested to the detriment of other coaches and the program that helped you.

This might happen at the liquefaction plant, but coaches careers are built on reputation. "Consultation" in the form of workshops (where Brady was encountered by CEO/CSE) and often direct (such as references) is where coaches encounter coaches.

Brady wouldn't "sell us trash" because...
A) it wouldn't be in his best interest, reputation wise
B) it is way too easy to fire them, thereby harming their resume/reputation and enhancing his.

Or maybe Brady wants his buddies to have the same opportunity he did and not hinder their careers.

Good lord you are short sighted. The best people want their staffs to get as much experience as possible.

Think about it this way:

Joe Brady doesn't get a NFL head coaching job this year and Peetz/mangus kill it at LSU in 2021. In an interview for 2022 with an NFL team Joe Brady can say hey, you see what Peetz and Mangus are doing at LSU? Those are my guys, I trained them in my system and look at the success they are having. I am the real deal and would be the winning choice for your organization. Not only that but if his guys do a good enough job at LSU he will just pick them back up for an NFL job when he's head coach somewhere and his guys have gotten even more experience.

I don't know about you, but if my best friends could be recommended for a career defining promotion at somewhere that is asking me for a recommendation you can bet your arse if I feel my boys are qualified I'm going to help them make that money. Even if it means I won't be working with them anymore, it's called selflessness. I also wouldn't put my boys in a position where I don't think they would succeed and hurt their career.

Peetz showing the same potential that Brady did may be a quicker path back to an NFL OC than staying on Brady staff for another 2-3 years. Mengas may want to be back in college and it was important to attach himself to Brady’s rising stardom for a bit longer to soak up as much. Both will get nice pay raises.

Did Sean Payton sell us his garbage when O & Ensminger showed interest in Joe Brady?
Its how the coaching world works, its networking. Nobody knows what goes on "inside". Maybe he wants these 2 to get high profile experience & see what they can do so when he takes over as a NFL HC, he'll be confident that they have what it takes. Or does he know that these guys/guy wants to break into the college coaching world & & have aspirations of being college coordinators &/or HC? Brady's reputation only gets stronger by sending out his assistants who then become successful at a high level, he's planting the "Brady Coaching Tree".

You sound like a pussy. I bet you don’t help guys at work below you because you are insecure and scared they’ll take your job one day.

lol...derp.

I mean, no coach wants to be known as the guy that tries to kill the career advancement of those underneath him.

This holds true for any management position, or it should...

If Brady gets a head job in the NFL will he come back and hire both in some capacity?

He gave a recommendation that got both of them a raise and a ton more exposure that will help their career. Plus I've heard they both wanted to get back into college coaching, so he wasn't going to keep them long term anyway.

Maybe, just maybe O wants to realized that the 2019 offense was drastically different and since Brady is off the market, he went after the next best thing?

Perhaps O asked Brady not for a recommendation but for personnel who had similar offensive philosophies and understanding of the offense that was executed in 2019?

If they didn't want the LSU job, they wouldn't be on staff.

The opportunities to apprentice coaches within a single NFL organization are limited. If no one is leaving, how do the people under you gain more experience at what you do unless you move up to head coach with the same team?

The only way is to send them out and see how they perform in a bigger role. If you send them to another NFL team, they may stay there and become your competition. There’s no NFL minor league system and the last two attempts at a second tier pro league failed in less than a year. Send them to a top P5 program in college and they get to develop in a high pressure environment with a little less risk to you. If you move up soon, you can always hire them back. Even if you don’t, you develop a rep as a guy who moved his subordinates up the ladder. That’s a long-term view that will help you hire top guys with ambition later on.

I’m not saying that guys don’t tell coaches under them who are about to be let go to go find another gig so they don’t have to fire them. That looks better on their resume. Miles did that all but once while he was here. However, that isn’t the only reason a guy would recommend people under him for a position elsewhere.

No but Payton tried very hard to convince Brady to stay with the Saints and told him he was making a big mistake by leaving for LSU. Obviously he wanted to keep Brady.

OP does make a valid point. Saban is on record saying he felt betrayed when one of his coaches got a head coaching job and poached Saban’s staff for coaches to fill their staff. Certainly Saban was not welcoming coaches to steal his best coaches. He wanted to keep his best guys. Why is Brady welcoming Orgeron to steal coaches if he thinks they are indispensable? Makes you wonder how good these guys actually are.

I agree with Moscona. Regardless of the upsides and downsides of them as candidates, it does seem like a lazy hire by O. Just call Brady and hire who he says.
