Completely disagree. This is Verge level thinking.

Because Sexton probably represents them too

I don't doubt this, but he will be hard to get rid of when the time comes.

Why not play against Sexton and leak the fact you are seriously considering other options in parallel thus presenting the option he could lose?
How do you know they’re not?

Today was Dilly day.

It’s being leaked that Kliff is almost a done deal in Florida.

What more should they do? They can’t say anything publicly.

Yup. He’s got a lot skeletons in his closet and knows where the bodies are buried. I didn’t not really like the guy. Seems more like an enforcer than an AD

Not at all. We are still in the regular season. Not many coaches are going to fly in right now.

Work through the agents, get most of the details done, then fly in right after the regular season during the bowl window.

My unfounded suspicion is they are all playing the Trace Armstrong game.

We are using the Lane circus to negotiate with a different sexton client who doesn’t want the attention.

Sexton is using this to drive up the price on OM and UF. LSU is more than willing to have them drain their coffers.

Additionally it also resets the narrative on the coaching search to show LSU has gotten itself in order.

I mean when is the last time that a flight itinerary leaked in a coaching search like this.

Why would they fly his family to town just because " the other coach doesn't want to be outed?"

Makes no sense. Lsu wouldn't do that. But lsu better have a backup option dealing with kiffin.

Would anyone really be that shocked if LSU was going all in on Lane with zero backup plan???

It sucks he has been allowed this much power.
Sexton’s power is simply a function of Kiffin, he’s the hot commodity.

And it would be malpractice for Sexton not to use every bit of that to leverage the best deal for his client.

There is nothing more obvious these days than the fact that college athletics is a business (which has actually been the case for 5 or 6 decades).

I know fans want to take it personally but I have news, when Kiffin came to Ole Miss he left somewhere else and OM fans were not crying about Sexton’s “power” then.

Sexton controls all the coaches with Rivera.

Ever wonder why states give these huge economic incentive packages to land big corporate projects?

Because the site selection is not done by the company but by a handful of consultants who have that market locked up. It's a guild of sorts. They play the states off against each other just as Sexton does.

Same thing.

My question is based on the concept that there is not enough smoke around LSU entertaining the idea of other coaches. More smoke would create more of a sense of urgency for Sexton, he would feel less comfortable, right? How that smoke is generated, I don’t care. I have a fever and the only prescription is more smoke!

You are thinking checkers. Sexton is playing 3-D chess.

Only here to say how laughable it is that people who don’t do said job are going back and forth about the quality of the said job that’s being done is doing. Everyone wants to be in the know and a damn insider, and not much of the information that has come out is really worth the weight of being called information…and somehow it’s Verge’s fault? Okay bro

This is what seemingly unlimited money gets LSU? I’d love to say that Lane is the answer, but man… I just can’t get there. Is he really the best money can buy right now?

If he did that everyone would be crying about how much of a mess LSU looks between firing BK, the governor shite, no AD, lawsuits, etc.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t
