I believe he will take 2021 off and get a P5 HC job in 2022. I don't see any fits in the SEC that make sense. People will say Arkansas, but Sam Pittman will probably be there a while.

I could see WVU if Neal Brown bolts for a better job, or an ACC school like Louisville or NC State if one of those jobs opens.

What about Nebraska if favorite son Frost has a 4th consecutive losing record in 2021?

He’ll enjoy his buyout and come back to some 2nd tier ACC like Wake Forest or something.

I think Malzahn would kill in the G5 long term.

He would, but he will probably hold out for a P5 position. I know some UT fans who would love to have him if Freeze said no.

Would be a match made in heaven. They're both stubborn as hell. Guys who refused to change their offensive philosophy and stood by and watched the offensive game of football pass them by.

One positive for Gus would be he could just rely on Les to recruit some OL for him. Because Gus just downright can't do it or refuses to do it.

Yeah my guess is we see him a lot on the SECN next year and then he looks for something in 2022

Gus did not perform poorly at AU by any means. He just didn't perform good enough relative to the extremely high expectations that comes with being the HC at Auburn. A job where not only do you have to compete in the SEC, but one where your supporters demand you beat the schools biggest and most hated rival. One, which happens to be the most dominant program in college football right now. LSU, A&M, Tenn, also "demand" their coach beat Alabama. But those schools don't share the sheer 365 days a year hate of Alabama that Auburn fans living in the state of Alabama do.

I think he sits out 2021...unless Tennessee makes a move. That program has been mired in mediocrity for over a decade and is DESPARATE to become a major player in the SEC once more. They have had FOUR winning seasons in the last 11 years. The best being 9-4. They haven't been remotely close to an SEC East title in over a decade. They are currently on a 14 game losing streak against Alabama which has made a once competitive rivalry now a complete farce that is solely responsible for fricking up the SEC schedule. As we sit here today Jeremy Pruitt looks no closer to making Tennessee worth a shite than any of his predecessors. In fact, they are getting worse.

I'm sure given the option Tennessee fans would crawl through glass to have the same degree of success Malzahn had at Auburn between 13-20. And he did it in a much more competitive division. That includes beating Alabama 3 times. More than any other HC during that same time period. Gus knows the SEC landscape and couldn't be any worse than the crap Tennessee has put on the field for the last 10+ years.

Who would want him honestly? The game has passed him by on offense. He makes moving the ball look difficult. Gus is a poor recruiter and the worst roster manager I've ever seen. If a school can see that he only signed 9 HS OL recruits in 4 year, and was only able to keep 7 of those 9, would they want him?

So you’re saying he’ll be the next coach at Kansas

He’ll be HC of the Ragin’ Cajuns when Napier is hired at LSU in 2022.

Gus and Nebraska seem like a match made in heaven if they write into his contract that he has to go back to running the offense he ran in 2013 and 2014. Passing Gus is worst Gus.
