When were you certain you didn't want Coach O?

When he first got the gig I was all for giving him a shot. If we won out and went to Atlanta I thought for sure he deserved it. After we loss to Bama with zero points I was pretty certain I didn't want any part of him getting it. But after watching us run twice into the heart of Floridas line I was 100% sure that's not what we need.
That was way too much of a reminder of what we had before.

He should never have been considered. Even if he ran the table. He is not qualified.

The day they made him interim coach

He is simply not good enough to be the head coach at a place like LSU

From the get go. Adore Orgeron but LSU needs a proven winner who can wipe away the stigma of our offensive woes

bama game. i was at least partially open to the idea if O earned the job and forced LSU's hand, but he didn't and we're no better off with O than was with Les, maybe even worse.

Same here. And anyone that says they wouldn't take him if he beat Bama and got us to Atlanta and the CFP is lying their arse off.

Same here. Was rooting for him to win out and get the job. Cooled after bama shutout, but was willing to settle for him if we couldn't get Jimbo or Herman and if he got a good OC and won out. After UF loss, O is out.

Always wanted Jimbo as #1.

nothing would make me consider him as any more than an interim.

Let me preface this by saying that I was a BIG Coach O advocate until Bama if we didn't land Herman or Jimbo. I was in the stands for the Bama game and I spent some time between plays watching Coach O, and when Etling threw a late interception Coach O handled it completely inappropriately. Dude was absolutely flipping a fricking shite on an already rattled QB and it made me realize that he doesn't have the temperament to be a HC at this level. I'd rather pretty much any mid-level coach at this point tbh

I'm just not sure why this comes off as some controversial position on this forum. By all accounts, O seems to be a great DL coach and excellent recruiter and motivator, but other than his time at Ole Miss he hasn't sniffed any HC jobs other than the interim gigs he stepped into.

LSU, at worst, is a Top 10 job in college football. Ed Orgeron might well be a Top 10 DL coach and certainly a Top 10 recruiter, but he's nowhere near that as a Head Coach. As such, the fact that he now has Squatter's Right on the HC office should not make him a candidate for the job next year.

That's not an insult, it's just honest.

This. Except, until the pro O posters started screaming that they wanted to keep him, i didn't even think it was a possibility.

Still can't fathom that it was that close to happening.
