Always heard Coach O is very stubborn and holds grudges easily. The moment Valentine mouths off to Pete Jenkins and never sees the field again when Gilmore is getting abused.

I wouldn't call that stubborn -- I'd call it a coach disciplining a disgruntled and immature player.

I don't want O as our permanent HC, but good for him on this one.

Wasn't sure how to take the interim assignment, cautiously optimistic. wasn't sure if he was HC material but the team seemed to have good energy and attitude, so I had no issue that he could be promoted if he won out.

Now, my concern revolves around the brain trust doing the hiring. We should be able to do better than O as a coach but those guys could also easily do worse. So I'll reserve my certainty for after the hire is announced.

You make Valentine run until he pukes, but you play that big SOB!

LSU hired back to back national championship winning coaches. The process works. They shouldn't be afraid to use it.

Day 1. I like having him around. If he were to stay on with the next coach he should have job security for quite a while.

I thought the same exact thing. I wish they would have made BDP the interim, we would most likely have the same record without the division amongst the fan base.

I didn't want him to begin with, but how anyone could watch that gameplan and think he was the man for the job is beyond me.

He was 100% responsible for that shitshow.

I was not like this, but at least you're honest. This seemed to be the board consensus for years, and yet not too many people will now admit to feeling this way.

The second he become the Interim head coach, like him as the D-line coach but not as the head guy going forward.

When heard what went down in Florida pregame and him being manipulated by a player too injured to play before a pregame scuffle and then he wants too. Then O allows him to play. That is a clear sign that O doesn't have the ability to lead the program and make the sometimes tough unpopular decision.

Different time, different circumstances and different people doing the hiring each time.

Joe Dean was the AD when hiring of Saban, Skip Bertman for Miles and and Aleva now.

When Saban was hired we had just fired the coach that broke a six season losing record skid and had at least started if no fully reestablished the fence around our state. A 2 season losing skid and an obvious loss of focus cost Dinardo the job. The expectation is jsut win again, so the pressure was not as severe as the Miles hire or this one. Media coverage was much lower and social media was all but non existent.

When Miles was hire, it was simply keep what we had going< Win the west, win the SEC often and compete for NC. A little social media of sorts and much more coverage of the hire because LSU was now looked at as a top tier coaching job. With a legendary coach as AD who was able to somewhat control the narrative and the leaks(still were quite a few, as I recall).

Based on the end of last year's media circus (that Joe took no control of) combined with Aleva's performance in the Duke lacrosse rape/non-rape case (the one instance you can categorically the AD cost his team a NC). I have some concerns. News coverage, speculation and social media have the potential to really gum up the works unless Aleva can take the situation in hand.

Sorry so long TLDR: Different times and AD, Aleva has given me reason to be skeptical. Hope I'm wrong and would love it to be my paranoia.
