I don’t think miles was a “big”step down.

He was a big step down in coaching from what we would have had if Saban had stayed at LSU from 2005-16. I am grateful for 2007 and 2011 and for the good years we had with Miles. I don’t think he is on the same level as Saban or Kiffin however, and we just took a big step up in coaching (yes Kiffin has yet to win big yet - but he will at LSU).

Its the greatest non championship day since we hired Saban

This. It’s been 25 years. We didn’t realize how big the Saban hire was at the time. Miles was a big step down and we didn’t have much time after bowl game to get a top hire. Some good times, then years of frustration with 1970s toss dive offense after 2012.

Jimbo. Herman. Riley. Frustrating misses every time and just could never land our top guy. Decades of catastrophe syndrome on our coaching searches from our PTSD up until today.

Some frustrating last couple years with O and BK. Get the wrong guy and have to suffer years of bad seasons until they get fired.

Today is huge. We finally got our guy! We may very well have a multi-championship winning dynasty coach now, that we missed out on when Saban went to Miami and then we had to watch him do it with bama right in our faces for 17 years :puke:

GREAT day indeed!

Kiffin is 100% going to be the next head coach at LSU. Even If Lane does want to be back at Ole Miss, they are not going to let him. He has burned to many bridges. Lane wants to coach the rest of season and really into the playoffs but of course neither Ole Miss or LSU is going to allow it. Ole Miss is going let him coach the Egg Bowl but he has to go silent on social media. Thats the real ultimatum. Lane being Lane, Lane is telling a couple of his players to get social media and try to calm the storm a little( Lacy and Trinidad). Kiffin will be in Baton Rouge on Monday.

…and another 4+ years to be able to fire another failed coach like bk

This. It will settle. The sky is not falling. Don’t pay him $48M+. Pay him $30-40ish. It’s called settlement negotiations.

BK is a bitch for checking out on his team, suing us, and not wanting to have to work again for a new team. frick him.

Alaska had 5 NFL players, are you saying that the University of Alaska Anchorage would have the better pipeline?

One school with 59 NFL players > one school with 5 NFL players.

179 divided by three schools would be about the same, unless more of those players didn’t end up at those three schools (or if it wasn’t an even split among those three schools).

can we not let Ukraine lose too much in the process?

The more help the better

But even if not, and they keep getting the minimum from us and Europe, then Putin still loses.

Wow, thank you for posting this. This is how we (those of us on team USA and team NATO and team Ukraine) win this. Russia does not have endless bodies and endless resources and endless political will to wear Ukraine down like Putin is trying to project.
Wow that was cool! From NW arky:

Yeah really no need to overthink this. There is going to be a crossing of the Dnipro, this will slow it down but its going to happen.

Russia did it to slow down the counteroffensive. The timing of this is when we were expecting a break-through any day. Russia probably saw ukr units move up to the river with bridge crossing equipment. Russia saw the “shaping” attacks along the southern front, and knew the big push could come any time now.

Ukraine said ru already mined the dam before and was just waiting for the right time. The timing points away from the dam just breaking on its own.

Russia can now shorten the front it has to defend, and move units east to where the main attack may come from (Zaporizhzhia area).

Russia doesn’t care about human life or its own troops. They don’t care if it floods their positions or ukr civilians. Ukraine does care about its own people and I don’t think they would have done that.

Time will tell and more evidence may come out, but this points to obviously being Russia blowing the dam with underwater charges that they had already laid to slow down a river crossing and free up units to move east.
quote:

the flooding downstream might also make a crossing upstream of the dam easier… as the river will become smaller here and easier to cross.

What about the “mud flats” on both sides north of the dam that will be created after the water level goes down? Won’t that be a new obstacle for ukr and help ru?
