It got ugly, for a while, but the Texans did their part to bring the Chiefs’ era of dominance to an unceremonious end. I am a happy fan.

ETA: Regardless of how the rest of the season plays out, I will always cherish this truly special defense.

The offense has shown signs of growth, but continues to have its periods of relative non-existence. Even when things are going well, we manage to make it far more difficult than it needs to be.

For now, though, the dream remains alive, and that’s good enough for me.
For a change, I have full trust in our head coach to properly evaluate this possibility. If Lane sees potential, I'm sure it'll be in the cards.
Hopefully, this is merely Notre Dame throwing a fit, rather than the beginning of a trend.

Fortunately, for this year, it feels more like the latter; but as someone who grew up loving and appreciating the difference between college football and the professional game, the death of bowl season would be yet another disheartening domino to fall.
I get why so many are unenthused about this matchup, but I'm glad the Tigers are still playing in a bowl game - against a proper opponent, and in a place where fans will actually show up, no less. There are far worse fates in life.

Wow.

Well done, Coach Kiffin and Co., and thank you for sticking around for at least another year, Coach Baker.

The good news just keeps rolling in, it seems. I love it!

Ah, thanks.

That would be a welcome development.

What did I miss?
That's a pretty tough, unfair way for your chances to win a championship to effectively end.
Oh, for an interview with Lane, I'm sure ESPN will find a way to squeeze him in.
Given the timeline, you've got to commend Iowa State for being able to secure their future with haste and competence.

Im not like others. Never really saw the hype as a college coach. Dude goes 7-6 like 60% of the time. Him and PJ Fleck have always seemed overhyped to me.

Penn St will win 8-9 games a year going forward. Boring azz hire. He's a big name and respected so others will call it a good hire, but if you fired Franklin for going 11-2 every year, hiring Campbell makes no fricking sense at all.

Maybe, but this hire didn’t occur in a vacuum. In an otherwise disastrous coaching search, Matt Campbell is a relatively satisfactory conclusion.

Notice how quiet the media was about Sitake having serious talks with PSU while 11-1 BYU was about to be in the playoffs? They also didn't seem to have a problem with Kiffin when they thought he was going to Florida.

I suspect many, in the media or otherwise, still cannot wrap their minds around the idea of LSU being a destination job. An institution of "dirty, poor ol' Louisiana" surely cannot have such an appeal.

Why were Les Miles and Ed Orgeron "perfect fits" for LSU? They were eccentric and dim-witted, just like everyone else affiliated with the school/state, naturally.

As such, it seems particularly incredulous for Lane to leave for what they perceive as a lateral move.

In no way should Kiffin be forced to keep Wilson in an on field capacity. I don't care what recruits take a bag elsewhere. Wilson is a terrible RB coach

He could be the best RB coach in the world; you can’t let him, or anyone else, hold the program hostage. Let it happen once, and it’ll happen again.

More importantly, you have to be able to trust your staff. How can you trust someone willing to sabotage recruiting efforts for their own, personal gain?

We honestly don’t even have to look at Penn state. WE were in that position not that long ago. People’s memories are so short or they choose to ignore it for the opportunity to be unhappy.

In our defense, this is one of those incredibly rare moments where our fanbase is, more or less, universally happy and understanding of the situation.
I wasn't able to give much attention to the game, until the last few moments of regulation, but it was good to see the Tigers lock it down.

Good luck. Kentucky fans warned us about him. And they were right. Maybe he fits better with Kiffin’s offense. But he did not jive with Butt Chin or Rees.

Ah, well, that’s not encouraging, but the insight is appreciated.
Hopefully, this works out great for us; a proper o-line coach is so critical.

Particularly on the offensive line, I’d much rather have less talent and better technique than vice versa; fortunately, though, we shouldn’t have to make that trade-off.
Kim truly is a woman of the people.
You can tell they’re ready because he looked directly into the camera.
If he’s actually ready to put the work in, they could do considerably worse than Brian Kelly. The fans might even welcome the hire, given the circumstances.

But none of that absolves Pat Kraft (Penn State AD) from totally dropping the ball here. They were the first major job to open, yet this is where they find themselves.
