Was the BK hire a desperation hire after LR went to USC?

294BK is a great hire, don't get me wrong, but was he SW's first choice all along? I really think he wanted Jimbo but he knew it was a long-shot and Lincoln was 1-A. Once LR was out of the picture he opened up the vault and gave BK an ultimatum. BK jumped at the offer and walked away with no regrets.

Lincoln Riley was never a target. BK signed the contract 2 weeks before he "became a target." BK was always the #1 target.

If that’s how it went, we got the better guy between those 3. Thank goodness Jimbo didn’t come and we are seeing Lincoln didn’t want to be in the pressure cooker SEC.

Doesn't work like that and I'm pretty sure BK would've told us to frick right off if that was the play. You know coaches have egos not to mention he had an opportunity this season to win a NC in ND.

The LR to LSU rumors were just that. Rumors. Woodward wasn’t pursuing LR. It was always BK. LR and BK have the same agent so he leaked out the LR to LSU and BK to USC so if it came up in an interview they would flat deny it all the while both were making deals with the opposite teams.

If you make a desperation hire from Notre Dame, you don't get to pay market value. Woodward would have had to pay much more than what Tucker and Franklin got for an extensions.
