I completely agree with you. If this is true this is a great hire. I've seen every name under the sun mentioned on this board and no matter what the name is, almost immediately someone is shitting all over the idea. Kelly is a great hire. I hope it's true.

Kelly previously served as the head football coach at Grand Valley State University (1991–2003), Central Michigan University (2004–2006), and the University of Cincinnati (2006–2009). He led the Grand Valley State Lakers to consecutive NCAA Division II Football Championships in 2002 and 2003. Kelly's 2012 Notre Dame team reached the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, while his 2018 and 2020 teams made appearances in the College Football Playoff.
I’m cool with this guy. He’s an a-hole that wins. Imagine what he can do with young men not capable of the ND academic requirements. Knows high school coaches all over the country. Thick enough skin to deal with our fanbase. Hell he is 100 times the coach of both Orgeron and Miles.

Kelly wins a ton of games and I think with LSU recruits, he could do some great things. If this is true, I’m happy to have an actual coach and not a character.

What the fans really wanted was to overpay an aging coach making an arguably lateral move to a university where he won’t fit in at all culturally to play against better competition than he has ever faced in his career with a track record of losing big games because of a lack of production on offense

Gotta say Kelly was about 3 or 4 on my top tier list
He is a perennial contender at a school that has very strict academic requirements
Not sure how he’ll recruit without those restrictions and the notre dame mystique but I think he’ll do some solid wining here
