Both Napier and Clark from UAB. Read something the other day that says Clark hasn't heard from any program. I figured both Napier and Clark would be on a few AD's short list

Apparently the AD only accepts calls not make them.

Wasn't Napier reported as saying Arkansas wasn't "southern enough" for him?

I think he was the 3rd or 4th choice on many lists. They like him just not ready to pull the trigger on him.

I’m surprised Arkansas wouldn’t be more interested in him than Pittman.

Napier has everything Pittman has (successful position coach, good recruiter, experience at successful SEC school)...plus years as a successful HC.

But they seem to want to roll the dice with Pittman.

I think many like Napier, but he may prefer to be more choosy and wait until next year.

Napier has a plan. He turned down Saban and $2M to be OC last year. His success at a program that has been mediocre to crap throughout our history, plus his coaching tree will keep him on the shortlist for a bunch of programs.

When he feels like he can be successful at a P5 gig he is gone pecan.

He didn't have a love and respect for Arkansas, the people, the players. We don't have anything to lose at this point so why not try LSUs strategy?

Our guys stated yesterday that Napier was refusing to talk to anybody until after his last game. At that point most schools were forced to move on. Probably good he gets another year of experience under his belt before taking a big job.

I think Napier still needs another year or 2 to prove himself worthy of a P5 job. I bet he’s in consideration for the Memphis job though

Clark finally met a team with a pulse and no suspensions and got whipped, that's why. UAB had a very weak schedule.

Napier puts together another decent year and he may get picked up somewhere. How's next year looking talent wise?

I thought he would be, but it doesn’t look like it. Ryan Silverfield was Norvell’s right hand guy and he recommended that Silverfield take over. If not him, they likely go to Chip Long at Notre Dame, who was a former OC.

The Odom rumors are out there too, but I don’t think that’s real. It doesn’t fit what they’ve been successful with. He was the DC at Memphis before going back to Mizzou. I think the school is doing him a solid and helping him get some visibility in his other interviews.

Napier fits, but Memphis seems to be centered on guys who have been part of their success. I think Silverfield has it wrapped up. He was Norvell’s lead recruiter and knows how he ran things. He has also had opportunities to leave and didn’t. There’s a feeling that he will stick around longer if successful and that would be great for the Memphis program.

I thought Napier said some school are not Southern enough for him to take it. I guess that he was waiting for a better one.

^^ All of this^^

And you gotta laugh at people on an internet board who are posting about $750k/ year as if it's peanuts, when their entire family tree won't make such in 4 good years.
