They tried that with edge where 75 of your 100 was kept by the firm that ran edge.
Then hunter and to little rock and blamed the fans for being poorz.

Nostalgia intensifies for Clemson.
Hard to believe they are hiring a guy based on results a decade ago and ignoring the failures that followed when he left.
It's really hard to believe Hunter and Arkansas didn't hire Dabo in this scenario.

Bert was a solid hire on paper at the time.
He is the reason for his failures here.
The main issue is when plan A doesn't work out for whatever reason it's an immediate knee jerk bottom of the list reaction. And it been going on for a loooong time.
Jimmy Johnson vetoed for Ken Hatfield.
Jack Crowe because he as already on staff and an easy hire.
Danny Ford hired because he was there after being brought out of retirement to be a consultant. (Fun fact his first action as head coach was to fire Houston Dale Nutt)
Tommy Tuberville vetoed for Houston Nutt at the recommendation of former player committee.
Tuberville turns down the job - immediately down to interviewing Jim Grobe (offered) and Gus Malazahn (2 years CFB experience) Petrino had to express interest through Jerry Jones to get the job.
Basketball bonus : Billy Clyde Gillespie backs out of his verbal agreement for Kentucky - Dana Altman backs out after introduced due to refusal to have control of staffing decisions - John Pelphrey after search firm was hired.
Mike Anderson hired at recommendation of former player committee. Probably the right hire for the dead program at the time, answerwd all what ifs and brought stability and consistency back to the program.
Bert because he was an easy hire with a good record as HC.
Gus turns down the job and recommends Chad Morris.
Gregg Marshall was going to be "too expensive". Musselman put into contact with Hunter via Connor Nolands parents who were friends with Muss out in Nevada.
Kiffin says no, BOT says no to BLjr, former players recommend Pittman.
Chris Jans and Darrell Walker publicly interviewed, it was really Mark Byington's job to lose as he was fricking Hunter's sister at the time before the chicken man stepped in.
Golesch reportedly took the job before being announced by Auburn. Kane Wommack reportedly in the final round of choices, Ryan Silverfield hired.
The coaching search that lead to Broyles being forced to retirement for being so bad and embarrassing had become the standard Hunter is continually trying to out do. He has flew under the radar with the equally lazy hires made in the sports he truly cares about (WBB, Track) because no one else does and thinks it's only a football issue.
Bad news for the baseball fans as Arkansas grip on mediocrity will slip with Hunter at the helm when DVH gives it up officially. Vitello will be for the easy takens from a shite organization in SF, but he will reward Bobby Wernes with the job for his loyalty and wanting to be here.

Long tried to hire Jim Grobe and was denied by the BOT.
Hunter tried to hire Barry Lunney Jr and was denied by the BOY.
Long's legacy was the facility upgrades and improvements across all sports.
Hunter's legacy is the worst decade and counting for football post WWII.

There is 1 QB on the roster, he says he would be a cheap option if given the opportunity.
They need a third string QB on the roster, but some people act like he is a top instate recruit instead of a fringe top 20 recruit in the state that he is.
So you get good will by offering and signing him, but you have double bad will when he doesn't move up from the bottom of the depth chart and transfers out to UCA in a couple years for playing time.
Everyone loves a lose lose situation.

It's an institutional problem stemming back to the 80s when the SWC was cheating their asses off, got caught, and then Hatfield was able to win a few conference titles as a result (and be blown out in the bowl games).
Edge and Link are a by-product of this. Arkansas must be above board and follows rules that are not enforced, meanwhile Ole Miss has gone from a shite program to pay for play under Freeze with no punishment of consequence when caught to jumping well into the grey area of NIL with again no consequences for working outside of the NCAA rules outside of a possible NC.
Same with Auburn in 2010 when they went all in on paying family.
Hunter is leading the way to the fantasy land that NIL will be reduced to revenue sharing with all teams being equal in terms of money for rosters in that regard in the SEC with the NCAA clearinghouse approving true NIL payments.
This would work if the NCAA had teeth, as it is teams will continue to pay as much as they can and when the NCAA says you can't do that the schools will say see you in court.
Hunter is literally relying on an act of congress to put this genie back in the bottle.
In basketball you have literal former NBA players joining teams mid-season now.
Playing by the rules is for losers who are looking for 2-3 win seasons.

It's Bama.
Do you know how many Rose Bowl National Championships they have won?
Obvious fluke is obvious.

In case this game as a big fluke?
No disrespect to the Indiana, I'm a firm believer that the Hoosiers winning their first bowl game since MC Hammers was at the top of the charts is a huge fluke and robs the Tide of truly accomplishing what they are capable of.
I've spent the last couple of hours in in disbelief watching the Hoosiers cap the game off with a mercy knee. I've spent the entire regular season watching Bama play great football, it's just not fair.
If the Tide were to lose again, I would accept the Hoosiers deserve the win, but I'm just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a huge disservice to Bama and College Football as a whole.

Obviously Hunter pulled a Kiffin again and completely whiffed on Golesch.
That ranks up there with his losses are for cause when firing.
Obviously this is a one way street from each perspective of AD and HC, as to be expected.

Sure but the linemen being 6'0 tall causing him to land at the G5 or lower level remains and the number of these dudes who prove they can play despite their size is few and far between.
Like wise the guys who have the physical size but dont have the skills, IQ, or want too needed to play the positions exist but you normally find these guys on the 3rd string or scout teams in the G4.
Sam was good and bad at this. His o linemen finds in the G4 were good finds for the most part. The 3rd string UGA defensive signings were not.

Depends on the position.
Then it depends on the context. He was apparently first to offer every player who could compete at the P4 level in Arkansas and surrounding the Memphis area. So former Memphis recruit/target is kinda watered down and doesn't mean much as it means nothing to throw out 60 offers knowing 40 of them are going to skip over you for the P4 offer that came later.
As far as position every team in the country could have taken their RB roster over the past decade or so.
WRs have continually shown they can make the step up to the P4 and compete as upperclassmen, same with QBs and several secondary players.
The only positions that do not translate as well is offensive line and defensive line.

Upgrading the stadium lights only makes sense if you are planning on playing night games.
Arkansas played zero night games at home this past season.

When the AD bitches about a lack of revenue to share it is only fair to point out obvious revenue stream losses.
Shitty product
Giving away home games
Stadium naming rights
Those obviously stand out.

It's about revenue, that's why we are also entering year three of the naming rights of the stadium to go unsold.
