He deserves criticism, but on Nielsen the leaks came out of the Saints camp. Orgeron specifically said it wasn't a done deal when asked about the NFL report.

Not really....

One leak was O himself hinting at it on Off The Bench last week, then LSU insiders all but confirmed it. Football Scoop also once again reported on it, they get this info from DP.

Payton runs a very tight ship when it comes to information and leaks, LSU is incapable of it. Do we really think these leaks came from the Saints?

Dude this has been a clusterfrick of epic proportions. If I hear one more numbnuts whine, “you gotta be patient!!” - I’m gonna spit in their face. THIS is why you don’t sit on your arse. You have to be swift and proactive.

What do you want O to do? Hold Freeman and/or Neilson at gun point until they sign the contract?

Its not like these dudes are just saying frick LSU.

Freeman wants to use his next move as a leap frog to a HC position so he'd rather not move his family across the country when he can achieve that same objective closer to home. Should O have let him coordinate the D via zoom?

Neilson is even less O's fault except maybe the waiting on him part. And I say less O's fault because I guarantee they talked to his agent WHO HAD NO IDEA THAT HIS CONTRACT DID NOT ALLOW HIM TO TAKE THE JOB. Was O supposed to predict that Neilson's agent is incompetent?

The only shitty part to me is that the info keeps leaking prior to the deal being done but even that we can't say for sure is O's fault. The info is most likely leaked by the prospective coach as leverage for the other jobs.

Now we can say with certainty that O's answers to media questions has been sloppy at best. Like other's have said, he should choose to not comment.

You nancy boys need to reel it in. While the DC search hasn't gone as planned, we aren't in as dire straights as some are acting like we are. There are good hires out there, Woodward and O just need to find them.

Tennessee investigating their own HC to fire him with cause and possibly getting themselves on probation in the process is a clusterfrick of epic proportion.

O missing on his top 2 DC targets for circumstances out of his control is set back but not to the extent that some of you are making it out to be.

Exactly is what I’m thinking. I can’t believe how some people keep taking up for these idiots.

Which hire did LSU mess up? And how did they mess them up? please be specific.

edit: I'm talking about this search only, so don't bring up Pelini or Canada.

And how exactly does this work? "Hey coach, we're not giving you the job unless the guy we like better turns us down." I'm sure tons of coaches would jump at the chance to be the obvious backup plan.

Freeman said he was coming and then backed out. O never said anything on the radio other than He knew who he wanted and that the deal wasn't done yet. I'm not sure how that makes him look stupid.

Interview the heck out of potential candidates early-on so you can truly appreciate what your "A" list is in order to be nimble and react differently than starting all over from scratch. The thing that gets me is there are other candidates out there that have been mentioned and it seems the calculated efforts to only interview slam dunk hires is allowing the competition with similar needs to swoop in and accomplish what we are not accomplishing.

Interview more than one candidate at a time.

Instead of interviewing one, waiting a week for him to say no, and only then trying to interview another one.

Yeah and definitely stop going on the radio and saying "we want to hire Coach X."

Other than that, I would really like Ed to occasionally know something that TigerDroppings doesn't.

The fact that this board has been able to divine with accuracy the only two serious candidates for DC our guys could get in a month doesn't give me much confidence in the creative thinking power of our current staff.

Also, does anyone look at Ed's track record of hires and think that he is doing anything other than winging it?

Is this really the behavior you want from a guy whose whole coaching philosophy is "I recruit and get really good coordinators to do the football stuff?"

TLDR: What I want O to do is be smarter.

Leaks have been the one consistent thing with this athletic department. Bunch of people who love to let their friends know everything that’s going on.

T-Derek runs this coaching search. They have several student workers posting here just to boost morale of the program.
