Hope there is mutual interest, because that’s scary if he says no by that time.

I would like the hire though.

There would have to be. Have to be. I dont say this with any drama here, but if he is our pick, we offer and it doesnt work out...someone should be fired over it. Period. O or Woodward. But that would just be a complete failure.

My worst fear is waiting 1-4 weeks to get a definitive answer from Nielsen then him turning us down.

yep

Because the further the Saints go, the higher his stock will go.

O calling his shot?

Fun fact: This phrase came from Babe Ruth calling his shot in the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. But the truth is that he did not call his shot. In fact, there was a lot of jawing going on between Ruth and the Cubs dugout before that plate appearance. He was actually pointing into the Cubs dugout, jawing back, before he hit his famous homerun.

Shea Dixon @Sheadixon Ed Orgeron sounds like he has at least one DC target at the forefront of his mind moving forward. "I have to be patient and wait for the right time." Gotta be Nielsen, right?

Or this guy!

Orgeron is one of Nielsen’s mentors, coached him in college and gave him his first big break.

He knows where he stands, if it’s Nielsen.

Kris Richard doesn’t have a job right now.

No reason to wait.

I could see him fooling everyone and making a completely boneheaded move by hiring Richard, just because Pete Carroll said so.

How the frick is Carroll gonna recommend a dude he fired?

My God, we better hope Orgeron is talking about Nielsen and not Kris Richard. I could see him fooling everyone and making a completely boneheaded move by hiring Richard, just because Pete Carroll said so.

Well, Richard is currently unemployed, so I don’t think we would have to wait on anything there.

I really can't see Coach O "waiting" for Nielsen just so he can turn it down, to me at this point after losing out on Freeman, He needs to be certain that Nielsen wants this gig.. I do believe that Woodward is making him interview others, which makes sense

Lane was upfront and said he'd come if he didn't get a head coach look, which he did.

There is no bad blood or broken promises there.
