This makes you wonder about way out of left field, like, Drew Brees or Peyton Manning. Has to be huge offensive genius type name. Brady and Sean Payton have already been mentioned. Lincoln Riley as well. If the “not even being talked about” is true at all.

We’ve clearly cloned Bear Bryant and he will be our next coach. Gumps are gonna melt so hard.

Isn’t Riley’s buyout something like 25M? If that’s the case, I just don’t see it. Lol

Quit believing everything you read on here by clueless posters. It shows you dont have a clue to whats going on...

Do you know that this is a big deal for him?

LSU has consistently higher ranked class for most of the past 10 years. With Miles and O.

there IS a reason for that, whether you want to believe it or not. If he actually wants to win NC's, its not about whats more enjoyable, its about whats easier to accomplish.

You hearing anything on Riley from your sources?

Nope. Kiffin is the name I'm hearing. But, as I said before and was very apparent in the baseball coaching search, anyone's guess is as bad as the next.

If it is Riley (and I don't believe it) you can bet Woodward will plait close to the vest and not screw it up like Saban to Texas

The shite people think will happen almost never does. Name the last top 10 coach from a major school who leaves his successful top 10 team to go to a team that is not top 10.you can't say Jimbo....FSU was .500 his last year there

This thread is getting my expectations and excitement for the hire way too high

I’m going to exit and go back to thinking Mel Tucker is the guy

If Alleva were still our AD, then I'd say yeah, come back down to Earth.

But this is Woodward. These are the types of hires he's made in the past, and now he's tasked with making the most significant hire of his career for his alma mater.

He's going big.

Preface: this will never happen...but:

returning Saban to LSU to give him the challenge of beating his dynasty he built at Alabama would be the greatest story in CFB history.

Again, will never happen, but man...what kind of a 30 for 30 series would that be?

You don’t think Riley has the resources at Oklahoma to compete in the SEC?

At OU he has to complete with Jimbo and Sark for TX players. He’s losing those battles. At LSU, Riley would compete with Jimbo and Sark for LA players. BIG difference.

Have you looked at Lincoln’s 2023 recruiting class? He is doing just fine.

Wut

Have you seen their classes lately? He has no problem getting talent to OU, and won't have anything standing in his way when they join the SEC.

Right now, that's the only recruting pitch against him. Just wait til they join the best league that the top players want to play in

Riley recruits very well in Oklahoma. Consistently top 10.

Good enough to make the playoffs from a weak conference.

The point most people are making is he'd recruit much better in Louisiana. Good enough to actually win in the playoffs. He might not get there as often but he'll have a better shot once he's there and once Oklahoma gets into the SEC they won't have that easy of a path anymore, anyway.

How much of that "history and tradition" occurred from the 40's thru the 80's? How many NCs does OU have since 2000? How many does LSU have since then?? I love how some of you geniuses have it all figured out with this "Why would he leave it makes no sense" crap.

Chris Peterson is the offensive guru that Woodward hired at Washington.

Not really. OU is a national brand so they can go get anyone they want.

Recruiting rankings over the last 10 years do not agree with you. They are good, but not at the top of the ladder.
