Oklahoma's classes have been 10th, 12th, 6th, 9th, 8th under Riley. Those are good classes, but they suggest a ceiling that wouldn't be present at LSU or any other top SEC team. Of the repeat players in the CFP (Alabama, OSU, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma), their recruiting classes are the worst

Exactly. And those are often boosted by a 5 star QB. He could pull off top 3 classes year in and year out. Especially better defensive talent.

Yes but they have to rely on national recruiting. This is never healthy

Oklahoma is the 6th most winningest program of all time, LSU is the 16th.

That national recruiting to Norman seems to be working out for them pretty well I'd say. Some of y'all are delusional if you think LSU is head and shoulders above OU, let alone a more prestigious job. Everyone has short memories and forgets you had to hire Orgeron, whom nobody wanted, the last time the job was open.

Add to that the fact that OU is about to be in the same conference and division and has all the resources anyone could ask for, why would he jump to LSU?

It makes no sense unless you're looking at it through purple and gold tinted glasses

You don’t think Riley has the resources at Oklahoma to compete in the SEC?

Nope. It’s why they always get their asses kicked in the playoffs when they face an SEC team. They can’t get defensive players out there because the high schools don’t bother much with defense.

One has 3 recent National championships (2 of those coming from very poor coaches), the other is Oklahoma. LSU is so far above Oklahoma that they can’t even see us.

LSU has as many national titles since Riley graduated college than OU has in his lifetime.

LSU and OU are both national brands. OU HAS to recruit nationally. LSU has rich in-state talent AND is the only in-state P5 school. Advantage LSU.

OU has 4x as many CFP appearances as LSU, probably 5x after this very season

Do you even Joe Alleva? He got his feelings hurt by one coach and that was the end of it.

He is a very smart offensive mind who has done exceptionally well with athletes. A lot of good head coaching experience and built a great program at Oregon.

In the weakest conference out there and have ZERO to show for it except several arse whippings by the SEC team they face off against.

Key word "go"

Same at LSU with built-in advantage being only big game in the State.

Once Oklahoma joins the SEC, they will become like Arkansas. Some decent years, mostly below average with an occasional good season. Recruiting the state of Louisiana is light years above Oklahoma. Their keys to success depends on taking players from Texas. Once the longhorns gets into the SEC, it will become much harder to recruit that state with Longhorns, Aggies, and even LSU recruiting in Texas. I'm calling it now. OU better pay Riley the world because if they get a mediocre coach in the SEC, it's over for them.

LSU destroyed OU on the way to one Natty and beat them in another.

OU is still a tough sell, especially elite defensive southern talent, IMO. They may be willing to come from Florida or Georgia to LSU, but OU without defensive reputation is a bit far.

Dumb. There’s a better chance for LSU to become like Arkansas if we don’t get this hire right.
