The ND head coaching job is too big for Freeman currently. But that’s not to say they won’t offer it to him. Strange happenings over there right now. No interim named. Still a shot at playoffs. Trying harder to keep current coaching staff together without knowing if next HC will want them. Unless they already have an agreement with LF, this is all odd.

Our only chance of getting Freeman is if Notre Dame hires neither Freeman nor Fickell as their HC.

If we can't do Freeman that's who I want.

He's supposedly a great DC and better recruiter. Also he's BIPOC so that should help with national media.

Execution of a flawless plan with impeccable timing. He's put a bunch of schools in a bind.

Freeman turned down LSU already, why would he come now?

Because the LSU coach is no longer a buffoon?

I doubt we get Freeman, but he's the one. We'll be winning the SEC next year if he comes.

Would Fickell want a job that already has the OC and DC in place? I guess they are both well respected, but seems a HC would want to hire his own guys or bring guys with him that he's already familiar with. I think that would be a tough sell.

This sounds a lot like LSU post-Miles. Aranda was the best coach but wasnt quite ready. Administration knew we were close to having a good team and didnt want to overhaul everything and lose the recruiting class.

Choose wisely ND....

I agree. Freeman will either stay at ND with new HC or go to tOSU. They want him also very badly after this season fiasco.

yea ND athletic director is tied in knots trying to keep the options open.

Fickell comes, the DC goes to Cincy
Promote DC to interim it may scare off Fickell
and then the Ohio State rumors sheesh

Freeman was his DC at Cincy, so it's not like they don't already have a relationship.

If Fickell goes to ND, Freeman is the HC at Cincy within 5 minutes

Wow, he must be REALLY worried if he's missing the cfb meeting to try to convince assistants to stay.

Yep. And you can include getting aTm to sweeten Jimbo's deal, UK signing Stoops to an extension, Baylor giving Aranda a raise, etc. Basically he reset the market.

Kinda makes you feel sorry for the colleges and university that have to replace head coaches next year.

this is what ive been wondering. Unless theyre promoting from within which would then make this make sense, how do go try to keep everyone NOW before youve hired a coach.

I understand the logic bhind keeping the staff of a good team there but new coaches want their own people around them, and again, barring a promotion from within, this would be hiring a new coach and telling them, here's your staff, you have no choice

ND fans should be high on Freeman. Anyone that follows NCAA football should be too. He's a really good coach.
