This is what you tell yourselves 51 weeks out of the year. But when Egg Bowl week rolls around, it’s pretty obvious who your main rival truly is.

We don't have to think about you all the time to be a rival. Yes you are our main rival. But we concern ourselves with beating Auburn/LSU/Bama all year. We only worry about beating you 1 week a year.

I have had multiple State graduates tell me that they would rather both teams lose than both teams win on any given Saturday.

We aren't that. And that is the attitude that is holding you back.

I disagree with your argument. My argument is Lane Kiffin showed up in Oxford and these conservative boosters knew Moorehead couldn't match up with the excitement of LK. You have your narrative, I have mine.

Ridiculous. No one was scared of Lane Kiffin. He had been fired or left from every P5 and NFL job he had. He had two good years and one bad year in G5.

OM got lucky with Kiffin, they had a lot of bad hires.

Like they said, Moorhead was 2-0 against OM. We did not fire him because of Lane Kiffin.

This is actually evidence to my point. It hurts your argument.

No, it doesn't. Nobody then thought anything about Lane Kiffin. He either left or was fired from every P5 job. No one was scared of him going to OM. So Kiffin had nothing to do with State firing Moorhead. We had a lot of fans calling for Moorhead's job in his first season. A lot more fans during his second season. I defended Moorhead until after the bowl loss. The team was going down fast. Kiffin never entered my mind.

Now, the idea that we hired Lebby because of Kiffin's offensive success at OM since he was hired? There might be a point to that, but not really.

Other than Arnett, State has had offensive coaches since 2009. We hired Leach who had a much better offensive track record than Kiffin. Before Moorhead we had Mullen who was an offensive coach. So we just went back to offensive coaching with Lebby. It's not something new because of Kiffin's success.

Lebby coaching at OM has nothing to do with it. Like the other said, had Lebby coached anywhere else and had this track record he would be desired.

You say “you” as if I’m an MSU fan. I’ve spent all of like 20 hours of my life on that boring arse campus. I actually would probably lean towards Ole Miss. Thanks to marriage, I do know my way around up there.

But it always happens. Ole Miss wins a couple Egg Bowls in a row and knock off an average LSU team and start in on the whole “we don’t concern ourselves with them. We’re more focused on LSU and Bama.”

Then LSU and Bama are like “huh? You’re like 3rd on our list at best”

At least State isn’t insecure about it all.

holy anecdotal evidence, batman.

it's legitimately pitiful watching the ole miss homers on this board and online sports forums (who typically, for all teams, tend to be on the homerly side of homers) talk themselves into believing that the majority of state fans have the school on their minds 24-7.

I'm sorry little brother, I am, but it's just not the case. we know the truth. we know who's been to Atlanta, to the final 4, that the series is evenly matched in recent history, that state showed the state the way for baseball championships, etc., etc. most state fans are not pressed over the other state school. stop reading elitedawgs and team-centric online sports forums. this is the internet, it's not reality. :(

So the ole miss fan who claims "we don't care about state" is in this thread melting hard about how hard they don't "care about state."

I mean did he suddenly forget how to coach or is Arkansas just a dumpster fire? He was very good in a similar system to Lebby's in 2021 and 2022.

I don't think it's him. It's that Arkansas fans have a short memory. The fans didn't complain in the years they were running Brile's offensive system. Which is similar to Lebbys. Pittman makes the change this year to Enos's offensive system and suddenly he's terrible? I think it was because Enos's system wasn't a good fit for Jefferson and everything took to long to develop. The system tried to turn him into a pocket passer.

We realize that giving a shite about yall just pulls us down. We are more worried about beating LSU/Auburn/Alabama.

This is my point. OM fans are so delusional that they think they're in the same class as Georgia and Alabama when in reality those programs look down on Ole Miss with a wry smile. It comes across as incredibly insecure on your part.
