I don't know about Chambliss being overrated as a passer. I have seen him take games over and win them practically on his own. He may not ever play in the NFL, but he is the reason OM is winning games. He's an amazing college quarterback.
Their next guy will not be nearly as good. (I know who he is, he's no Chambliss. He's no Kamario either.)

I keep seeing LSU fans coping by saying this is a rebuilding year. Are they aware this no longer exists in the NIL era? CFB rosters are now built and rebuilt on a yearly basis. You either build a good roster or you don’t, and whether you do or you don’t, you’ll still be scrambling to reload it next year. Fans of blue bloods are having a really hard time with this new reality.
The best teams still develop/keep and get portal players to fill gaps.
Now the teams who aren't blue bloods may need more portal players, but keeping good players and replacing poor performers is still the best option. That's not the same as a new team every year.

Clemson, Ohio State, Florida State, and LSU have done it, but Ole Miss is none of these.

Chambliss didn't randomly sue on his own, Ole Miss or OM lawyers sued for him. It was certainly arranged ahead of time how much NIL he would get if he came back.
