Now if he doesn't get results in the first two years that's a different story.
There would be hell to pay. Actually I have no clue if thats right. I don't know many Texas fans and they let Mack hang around for a while.

I seriously think Texas think they are in such a bad place (they really aren't that bad) that they will let him call the shots. His track record speaks for itself.
Yea I can easily see this. Saban is the kind of coach that you hand over the keys to the program and watch him go to work.

My understanding is as long as you're willing to pay, they're gonna take you wherever you want. A friend of mine owns a plane. We took it out to Vegas, but we had to take a net jets flight on the way back because my buddy lent his plane to another buddy. So, we were supposed to leave Vegas at 2. I got loaded, my phone was out of juice, and I ended up playing blackjack WAY past our 2:00 departure. So the net jet pilots were not very happy with me as they had scheduled to drop us off and be in Memphis by a certain time. I think we had to pay for frickin them on their Memphis flight

RE: the LHN shows. Trust me, if Saban did come and said frick off with the LHN, the LHN would frick off and not force him to do shows. Coaches are not under contract to do shows, Mack just does them because he likes to be the "face" of the program much like DKR
well that doesn't make me feel any better

Don't worry. The past 4 years as a Texas fan (and the 90s) have trained me to be prepared for disappointment. I'm still expecting us to hire Todd Graham or hell, even have Mack stay a few more years.

Mack had a good relationship with the president and AD. Unless he had a serious eff up or things turned Florida 2013 bad he wasn't going to be pushed out. Fans and boosters opinions of him are a different story
As much as they will have to do to lure and coddle Saban, believe they will be expecting big things.

Texas doesn't own LHN. ESPN does. How can Texas give Saban something they don't own in the first place? Texas is paid a fee from ESPN.
He may be getting a % of the fee in perpetuity. Rumors

Nah, no way. SURELY they realize that what he did at bama (undefeated regular season in year 2, 3 of the next 4 titles) won't be replicated, not at texas or anywhere.
Saban was 7-6 in year one so they have to expect a transition year. In year 2, I doubt that they'll bring out the pitchforks if they aren't in the title picture. At least if they have some sense.

You're probably right. Like I said I don't know many Texas fans.

If he stays:
-Saban will always be compared to Bear
-Fans will hold grudge and always prefer Bear
-And Saban will be even more heavily scrutinized
If he goes he can:
-Make more money
-Be appreciated
-Go down as GOAT rebuilding three teams and winning titles at 2 with potential for 3
-Who is the Bear?
He knows what he is doing...enoG eH

Yeah, as far as he is letting all of this talk heat up, I don't see how he can just go back to Alabama and not feeling any repercussions. Things will never be the same. Its like cheating on your significant other.

It'd be close, but Mack staying. As someone noted, the fan base has been done with Mack for a few years now. Our vitriol has only increased by him staying because of his friendship with our outgoing AD
