Perry wants UT to have an openness and Powers wants it to remain elitist.
To be fair, Perry wants the same for A&M (his alma mater) and is meeting resistance there as well, though their pres took the Mizzou Chancellor's job.

I just assume this narrative is being pushed by jealous aggies.
Of course it is. Only now they cast stones because they hired Sumlin. Statues that are decades old somehow mean we would never hire a black coach. Aggie delusion at its finest.

Because Mack took Texas back to being a big program. Not just money. We have a recent NC, one of the top recruiting grounds right in our backyard, a nice area of the state (anyone who disagrees hasn't been to Austin), and to top it off, money. Comparing who we hired and the situation in the 90s (along with the 80s, one of the worst decades in Texas football) to now just makes you look ignorant. The two situations could not be more different.

boy you guys have your hopes up pretty high if you think a Superbowl winning coach is beneath you
He's a great coach. The pro game and the college game are 100% different. He's not "beneath" anyone. I just don't know why people assume he would be successful in college just based on the fact he won a Super Bowl.

only added because it was told to me that Tomlin's agent has reached out to UT.
Sorry, might have worded it wrong. I don't really understand why the UT admin would be interested (if they are) in Tomlin over many, many other candidates.
As a fan, I'll be disappointed if it's not one of:
Harbaugh
Malzahn
Meyer
Strong
Maybe Franklin
Briles
At this point, I'm still undecided on guys like Strong/Franklin. While some of the others are reaches, we should be aiming very high with this hire.

Dolla bills. What if Texas offers Harbaugh 7.5MM/yr? He makes around 5 now, coupled with no state income tax in Texas, it'd be really hard to not at least seriously consider a +50% (more considering taxes) pay raise. Not to mention he was a college coach before. I don't get the Tomlin suggestion. That makes zero sense to me.

Nobody has any idea.
re: Would Saban or any respectable coach jump into this dumpster fire?

Or, what if all along the AD had a timeline in place, the media leaked the story, set their own timeline that didn't match the AD's and now everyone is thinking it's a disaster? All the while Bellmont is following the original timeline. I don't know that that's the case for sure, but it's a distinct possibility.

It would be a strange move. Texas is not an elite program if we're actually talking about history on the field.
The melt is complete. Yeah man, 2nd in all time wins is NOT elite AT ALL :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

If this has any truth to it then this is a sick, calculating guy. Like not just on the football field, down to his core. What the actual frick.
I actually agree. If that's true (wishy washy at best), that would be some next level shite

Interesting - almost all of that plane's recent flights involved Florida.
I believe that is like NetJets - a fractional share program, so there's a high probability that none of those other flights are related to Saban (if this one even is either)

What time does the awards thing end?
Unsure if this is directed at me, but the banquet and awards are tomorrow night not tonight.

BOR is done with Powers who isn't fired. Latest news is that Mack, Powers, and Patterson the AD will meet tonight.

I'm not a TX board reader.
Just out of curiosity, and to help me digest what makes some of these Bama posters so confident, can you or someone else tell me anything Jesus Shuttlesworth has been wrong about and/or how long has he been associated with following the program?
Only major thing I remember him being wrong about was Texas to PAC16, but EVERYONE missed on that one. Apparently it really was done until the last minute. JS has called the initial contact with our Regent and Sexton early this year, Deloss' retirement, a few other things. He's been actively writing on the program for a couple years now.

He isn't BOR just a booster. And he's 88 years old. Gimp used to mean hurt (Ash).
