Not sure whether or not their AD wants to hire Miles but the Purdue fanbase is salivating at the thought of hiring him.

As I said, I do not think Les will get back into coaching next season (I predict ESPN), but he'll definitely have some offers more enticing than Purdue. Notre Dame is probably a long-shot, but nonetheless certainly a possibility with some "fits" for a quick fix to the Brian Kelly disaster.

Kelly is better at Xs and Os, no doubt, and certainly thinks he's smarter than everyone and probably is, but unfortunately for him the college game is so much bigger than that, and why he is now uncomfortably crashing and burning..in College football the HC has to be a Engineer + Politician + Teacher + Pastor + Father + CEO ... So many other facets in Building a consistent program in addition to being the smartest football guy in the room

That's why Miles had so much success for so long, in some respects he definitely "gets it" and understands "the game" that Saban created and mastered (recruiting, team-building, motivating, kissing babies, brand exposure, staff organization, big picture focus, demanding financial commitment and resources),,. Unfortunately for Miles he just had one fatal flaw that he never had the mental capacity to fix..find an OC that knew what he was doing and let him do it with limited interference

College game is probably the hardest of all 3 to be suxcessful at consistently because

HS - team with best players wins. Period, no Xs and Os required.
NFL-Xs and O's uber-important and seperate the teams and determine the outcome each week
College - you gotta do both, or at least hire people to do both, and also be a full-time politician

Purdue is known for QBs. Les will be like a kid in a candy store

I think it'll play out like Fulmer, people just assumed with that resume he'd find another good job easily....and then ADs kind of wondered, well without your recruiting base, what exactly do you do?

I tend to agree. If he was going to struggle to win 7-8 at LSU what does he offer a school with half the resources and a 10th of the recruiting base?

The answer....not much.

I think people struggle to separate 53 year old Les from 63 year old Les. 53 year old Les is THE hot commodity. 63 year old Les likely thinks one of the big boys will call while in January he is still sitting jobless and wondering why.
