There's more to it than recruiting base. LSU gave Les Miles a darn near blank check to build his staff. We have always had an excellent coaching staff under Miles because we paid well. I doubt the Purdue's of the world are going to allow Les to go hire Dave Aranda from Wisconsin, or Ed Ogeron from the NFL.
If Les himself had to coach his team to victory the entire game would look like his two minute drills.
I think we learned from our mistakes last time. We paid our HC just as much or slightly more as most people in the coaching carousel in 2012....but then we skimped on the staff. So we had the highest paid coach outside of the top 5 in the conference then had the lowest paid assistants.
We won't make that mistake again, I assure you.
I think we would be willing to offer Fleck $3mil+ and allow him to bring his intact staff over from WMU. I think that would be a positive selling point vs. a higher profile job that might want him to dump some of those guys and bring in new blood.
Our last transition of an entire staff to Purdue went VERY well.

He's going to be terrible there. Going to run the same outdated offense with a fraction of the talent.
Harbaugh and Meyer must be giddy

if Les goes there I predict he won't bring his offense with him. It's one thing to run pro style when you have the best or close to the best players. But it's inane when you don't.

I can only try predict future events by studying past events and I don't think Les will change a damn thing if he gets another coaching gig.
