Hell, I sometimes he thought more about Michigan while he was here than he really did about LSU.

Really? He probably could be chose to coach at Michigan twice and decided to stay at lsu.

Yeah which is why he's more likely to come back as an assistant not HC.

He's not even a good OL coach
You don't know what you're talking about. Coaching OL is Les expertise, he was one of the best in college football under Gary Moeller

L.O.L.

who the frick do you think Purdue is to turn down ANY coach, much less a coach with the resumè of Les Miles

The idea that Purdue is 'too good' for CLM is hilarious... who the hell are yall??

That would be like Rutgers saying they don't want Mack Brown after he left Texas or Bobby Bowden after he left fsu

At LSU, Miles had to constantly fight for his job

What the hell are you talking about? At no point in his first 11 years did he have to fight for his job. It wasn't until last year, b/c he was no longer being competitive in the West, did he have to fight for his job.

Would be a great hire for Purdue. I would be interested in seeing what Les could do there.

i would too... i think he would maybe get to .500 and a bowl game..

If I were a young up and coming coach I wouldnt go there.. its a death sentence..

Mol, les went to mich. got two degrees. Mich is presently rated #1 public school in USA. Cal "berkeley" is #2 after generations at #1. No flies on mich now or ever.
He would not have to win natty. Just beat indiana and northwestern and two MACs. Just needs two more for .500 and a bowl. He'll do fine.

ZERO Chance Fleck takes that job. He can stay at WMU for a few more years and get a job that is easier to recruit to.

He is making 800k o think. If they triple his salary that could be hard to say no to. He also may think his stock won't get any higher and get out while he can. Purdue is a stepping stone job. Do well there and you could be in line for an elite job.

Hes the king of the campus at WMU. At Purdue, he will be behind Matt Painter. I think he stays for another year. Leads them to back to back MAC championships and leaves for a place with an actual recruiting base.

We would easily give Fleck $3mil. With our BIGTen TV money we can easily afford it. WMU is in a shitty recruiting area now and he does just fine for his level. He could easily generate the same excitement and relative recruiting results in West Lafayette.

I don't disagree that we are a stepping stone job...but a stepping stone to very few programs. We could generally match any salary bump any school could give him (if he were winning) and moving from a place like Purdue to an Iowa, nebraska or Wisconsin isn't really the move you dream of making. You want to go from Purdue to Michigan, ND or Ohio St. The truly elite. I really think Fleck could be that guy.

All of that said, I think an elite tier team will take a shot at him this cycle. If not, he would be wise to jump now while the iron is hot. Lose 3-4 games next year and you can still jump but you've cost yourself $2+mil that year in salary you didn't take and you're definitely going to have to go to a low tier P5 team. 4 years at a MAC school is a good track record IMO.

He would be rolling the dice on waiting for an elite job. If Oregon comes open I could see him taking that job...but I think that's as good as it's going to get for him this year.

And despite what people on here say it would be hard down 3 million.

They're hacks who are incapable of giving Miles credit for anything.

If I'm Fleck I would rather stay put or take another stepping stone job at a slightly better school than WMU than take Purdue, which is a dead end, career killer.
