Easy now...Lark’s a good guy. I doubt they would give him the head job. I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave Kerry the job as that would be the typical McNeese move. There are no dominant names on the HS circuit in SWLA that I can think of right now. Kinder has been hot as of late but was down a little this year so I don’t think they’d go that route (plus it’s a 2A school). Hell, I’d be happy if they brought Kirby Bruchhaus in but that won’t be happening.

Tim Leger would be the stereotypical McNeese hire, but would work, imho.

He makes more money as an assistant for the Cajuns and his son will be a senior at UL. Doubt he would take it considering the timing.

Steal Incarnate Word’s coach.

I think they should at least kick the tires on some Texas coaches.

Would anyone have a problem with Riley Dodge? He’s just 30 though.

That would fit in with the whole "good ole boys" network. I mean, he was a McNeese QB. It makes sense, even if it ism't the best hire.

Where did Tommy Tate end up and why did he leave McNeese?

Job is Tim Leger’s
Will be a great hire, good young coach, well respected, tons of LA HS connections
Former Cowboy QB, Knows the landscape in LC and the uphill battles they face
Will be interesting to see how much they allow him to spend on staff

Yeah, it likely was his before the move was made

I doubt it comes with much of a budget for staff. Will need to raise money like they do for the golf team.

My usual suspects were not aware this was happening.

I know a few former players and word is this was done quickly and quietly
So they had their guy before they made the announcement
Still have to go through the state process and the end of the Cajuns regular season today

Why would it be Leger? Do you think that’s a good hire?

Isn’t he making more at ULL. He won’t make more than 150 at McNeese.

He was very underrated at McNeese as a player.

I knew it wouldn’t be a national search. Like I said, it never is with McNeese.

At the same time, I guess I don’t have a problem with this. I don’t think it’s a homerun hire , but I also don’t think it’s a flop

TL is the right price point, right age, he fits a local narrative and if he works out it could be outstanding
If he doesn’t, back to the drawing board

He has a lot of the right kind of experience, has been around some great HCs, knows how to politic, excellent people skills, so he can repair some of the PR damage to the boosters and the community

Not sure MSU could do much better with what they can pay TBH, they easily could do much much worse

Is this just hearsay (because I know what you do and what connections you have ) or how confident are you with this?

Like I said though, I chuckled when they said “it’s going to be a national search.”

I guess until McNeese understands that paying a coach a decent amount of money to keep up with the Jonses’, this is what we’re going to get until finances change.

God forbid you say that on other McNeese boards and facebooks pages. The blue hairs will jump down your throat demanding you go to QB club meetings and donate if i wanted a higher paid coach as if my measly donation would make a difference.

Here’s $200. Buy the kids some bread rolls for dinner one night.

Coaches are given a budget for their coaching pool. They get to determine how much their salary is out of this budget.

Easy yourself, I said nothing bad about Lark. I stated I wanted to go outside the McNeese Family. The reason I mentioned him name is because I felt he was the most qualified on staff. Lets face it, they don't have the to realistically do a real coaching search. What I want isn't happening. I think Kerry would be a better recruiter but Lark would be the most qualified.
