I am surprised he got that job in the first place. He was a lightening rod in Louisiana after that recruiting debacle with his son. Or is all of that water under the bridge just because Orgeron orchestrated the whole thing?

Lance's son Janzen Jackson flipped his commitment from LSU to Tennessee on signing day. Kiffen and Coach O were at Tennessee at the time. It was a blessing in disguise.
He's serving 11 years for murder.

Plus Lance doesn’t have the cleanest record. That’s why I’m saying McNeese has the leverage and offered him peanuts

I remember that. Now it makes a lot of sense that Orgeron’s twin sons went to McNeese to play for Guidry

Who cares about last year

He has everyone returning from a 9-2 team and went 6-5

I’m sure LSU fans would be cool if O did thay next year?

This was the poorest coached team I’ve ever seen play.

like 70 percent of them would be cool after a couple SI stories about him eating gumbo on recruiting trips

Doesn't matter. He lost 3 games to end this season; 2 of those to teams that finished 5-6 and 4-7. His team was underwhelming this year, and the starting QB from that 9-2 team was benched at one point because the offense was underperforming.

no losing seasons

See above. This doesn't matter. If he went 6-5 for the next 2 years, he would not have a losing season, but would probably have no conference titles and no playoff appearances in his 5 years as HC. Do you still keep him then?
quote:

Blaming him for low attendance.

Calling out the fans for low attendance in his 3rd year as head coach was pretty stupid, especially when it was the highest attended season since 2015. Should he alone be blamed for low attendance? No. But he blasted the fans for not attending at the worst possible time.
quote:

Lookin for a scape goat.

Maybe, but it's not like his teams put up spectacular performances. Hell, they just seemed to roll over in losses and tried not to lose in wins.
quote:

need new AD.

I agree with this. Not doing the Athletic Department any favors by keeping him. Should have canned him and let the new AD decide what to do with Guidry, or canned them both at the same time.

The guy basically took an Asst job at Florida St and it fell through and he came back with one year on his contract.

That shows his commitment. I get that the AD needs to go as well, but Guidry doesn’t want to be here. I personally think he burned his bridge when the whole Florida St thing came up and it showed his true intentions.

I actually thought he was going to kill it for a few years and move on to a better situation. He really should have been 10-1 last year with a conference title and was in position to win it again before the end of the year collapse.

McNeese needs to break out from the "McNeese Family" thinking. Change is good, and it's needed.

Mcneese pays the HC like $100K, and the AD doesnt make much more than that either. I would guess Mcneese fans would support the team more if they played better competition - playing teams like incarnate word, houston baptist, and central arkansas when they used to play teams like north texas, arkansas state, ul-m, and playoffs against marshall...all of those teams moved up to division 1a or fbs now. They should have joined a lower tier fbs league, and gotten a share of a tv package, to hire a better AD and HC. They play schools like UL-M, UL-L, North Texas, etc again, and sprinkle in the old traditional southland teams like Northwestern St and SFA, and I think fan buzz would increase. The prospect of playing in a bowl game again (Mcneese used to, they once played in a bowl against Syracuse) would create some buzz in a growing city like LC.

Or they can keep doing the same thing, and they can expect the same results.

There are some people wanting them to do that and join the sun belt but they don’t have the money

I still think they would draw if they made the playoffs and would win.
