Hell, they won the first Independence Bowl.

McNeese had a bowl win long before ULL even sniffed one. Let that sink in.

This school has a winning tradition, and it is a long time removed from any post-season success. We need a coach to bring us back to that level.

You want to try and find a coach that can bring you back to the FBS?

Not what I said. I said I want a coach that will bring us back to having post-season success. That doesn't just mean bowl games. This program played for 2 national titles, but hasn't won a stinkin playoff game since 2002.

I'm probably in the minority in the fact that I think moving up would be a disaster. I see zero benefit to it. It's not going to change attendance significantly. Look at ULL. Look at their attendance. It kay change things for a while, but people will get tired of ULL, ULM, Texas State, etc. We will be playing for spots in 1 or 2 bowl games played in Mid-December that noone outside of the Sun Belt actually cares about, and it will cost more money to do so.

I'd rather get back to competing for National Titles than playing for the New Orleans Bowl.

They would never receive the votes needed to join the Sun Belt.

Also once the state stops allowing the 3% general fund transfer for athletics then almost every athletic program in the state not named LSU and UL will be in trouble.

Here we go. You guys are in trouble too. The only state FBS program who uses the max allowed general fund transfer of 3%. Still gonna be close to $10M behind in budget to the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.

Dude, get real. The only program in the state that wouldn't be in trouble is the only one that cuts a check back to the university every year.

LSU is the only athletic department that could afford a cut.

And this shite has nothing to do with McNeese's head coaching vacancy anyway.

The Cajuns don’t use any money from the General Fund. Go ahead a look at the last audit. Proof is in the pudding.

Then why even bring this crap up in a thread that has nothing to do with budgets?

Leave to a USL fan to screw up a conversation not involving them.

Another good candidate if you want to go the young and hungry route would be Louisianan Tech DC Blake Baker

The person talking about McNeese moving up to FBS and joining the Sun Belt was out of his mind, but yes keep this about candidates. McNeese will have to make a good hire because Tim Rebowe is cleaning up down the bayou.

McNeese has a habit of bringing in people who are connected to the program. This has not worked out well except for Matt Viator. I wish they would bring in an outsider like we did when we brought in Bobby Keasler. At the end of the day I have little faith we put any effort into a search. We will probably end up promoting Lark Hebert.

I’m afraid they will do that too, or Kerry Joseph

If they do then I’m out. That’s just plain give up
