But I am hearing Napier has talked with Woodward and has told him he is ready for the LSU job if offered and is his 1st choice.
Napier: "Hey Scott, just letting you know I've been offered a ton of jobs, but I'm turning them down because LSU is my #1 choice and I'm ready to be hired."
Woodward: "Oh thank goodness, you had us nervous there for a second".

Tucker actually should be ahead of Napier too
Tier 1:
Riley
Dabo
Jimbo
Franklin
Tier 2:
Fickel
Aranda
Tucker
Napier
If we get all the way to Napier, I’d be really disappointed.

The OP said Napier said he wouldn’t take another job until the decision is made about LSU.
Not that he wouldn’t listen or interview. There’s a key difference. He would be goofy to not listen or interview because there is not guarantee he lands the LSU gig

In hindsight I feel confident Aranda was already the LSU head coach from 2016-2019. He’s just so professional, and your a-hole doesn’t clinch every time he opens his mouth like with O or Miles. I really want someone like Dave who has a professional attitude, and can actually give these kids good advice on life as well football and give us some continuity.

Thread title …
Which we all know is not true. I have no doubt he won’t be taking another job until LSU decides, but I guarantee he and his agent are talking/listening to other schools,
I think that’s what OP meant: he won’t be taking another job before LSU decides… And no disrespect to the OP, but yeah no shite lol

and it really shouldn't be all that impressive of fricking course you wait on LSU before accepting any of those jobs
"oh you mean he'd rather a top 5 job over those middling programs???? Man he must really want to be at LSU!!!!"
I told gal gadot I'm not going to go out with any other women until she tells me yes or no. Your move Gal.

Hiring a guy from a school, in
a piddling conference, proactively campaigning for a job, is the definition of lazy and so Joe Alleva

You are working with old information. Originally Franklin was in the top tier however he was switched out for Tucker a couple weeks back. Actually more like a month or so back.

Im calling total BS! Of course he wants to be here, he'd crawl to Baton Rouge for this job! He's an idiot if he's not talking to anyone else! You mean to tell me he's not listening any offers at all! You'd only do that if you thought the LSU job was yours to turn down! New Flash It's Not!. He's not the top choice, He's not getting this job! No matter how much y'all want to wish it into existence. If any of those schools calls with an offer he needs to take it, News Flash Bama Is Not Calling!
Also total nonsense! You're saying that Napier is at the top of the list over Aranda because he'll come cheaper! Please Stop It!
Damn son, lay off the coffee and cocaine. I'd ask if your period (.) button was broken or malfunctioning, but you actually used it in one sentence at the end

It cracks me up how triggered some posters here get over the prospect of hiring Napier. And it's for no reason, other than the fact that he coaches at ULL which is "sooooo beneath LSU". ULL is obviously beneath LSU in the football landscape, but a good coach can come from literally anywhere - even if it's within the same state.
I've got news for people like you: You better get used to the idea that Napier could be the hire. He's a damn good coach and has ties to the SEC and the Southeast like crazy.
There's not many (realistic) candidates that are better suited for the hire than him, and the only reasons you'd cry if he were hired would be because you expected someone unrealistic and "big" like Riley, or because he currently works at another Louisiana program.
Give one good reason that you feel his *actual coaching abilities* aren't up to LSU standards instead of bitching because he coaches at ULL, and you might actually have a real argument.

I really hope all these quotes that are coming out recently are BS, because it makes it seem like Woodward is only marginally better than Alleva.

I will say this. Napier is the 3rd option with Franklin, and potentially even Aranda right on his heels from what I’m hearing.
If the Main guys
Riley
Dabo (others are hearing Jimbo here)
Fall through the LSU head coach will be one of these…
Napier
Franklin
Aranda
In my personal opinion that’s a good “tier 2” group of coaches.

There are tons of coaches that have achieved decent success at lower tier programs
It has nothing to do with him being from ULL, in fact he’s mostly getting mention due to proximity. His resume lacks success as an assistant and there’s just not a large enough sample size as a HC to say he belongs in the running for a top 5 job.

If I was a coach I would think multiple SEC and nattys and working for Saban would look successful.

That’s a positive as he knows the LA HS coaches and many of our commits. The other G5 ranked team (Cincinnati) has a coach that gets mentioned often as well.

as an analyst and WR coach? Cool. Definitely worthy of the LSU job now. You're right.
I was referring to coordinator success on his side of the ball, which is spotty at best. mMst people just talk up his recruiting and use of tProcess

It was enough to get Billy a promotion to ASU and the HC at ULL, where he he’s them fricking ranked and would be a 2 point favorite over LSU on a neutral site.
Can we do better and is Woody trying? Seems to be with Riley and perhaps Jimbo. After that if Aranda is wanting O money, I agree getting Billy on a moderate contract is reasonable.

Napier is not coming to LSU.
End of story.
Neither is Franklin and others.

Napier also has no argument over Tucker
As far as money goes are we really going to be duped by the recruiter that will work for cheap again?
