Jimbo Calls his Own Plays and his Offense is Mediocre

Since 2013 he’s had 1 top 25 offense and that was in 2018 when he scores 49 OT points between the LSU and Kentucky games.
Otherwise he hasn’t broken top 30.

But that Orange Bowl though

He’s the Bianco of this search. Woodward is either going to make a splash hire or the best hire available a la Johnson. Not worried at all, he’s a smart guy and can see what Jimbo is in 2021. Not happening

Obviously I'm thrilled he's gonna stay in college station but there is more to offense than yards. His teams pretty routinely do well on 3rd down, time of possession and efficiency. His play is slow but it’s effective.

He’s 33-12.
Is it that effective?
Even in your best years you’re averaging under 20 points in your loses
Ball control, TOP, Rely on your defense football is late era Les Miles football.

Then you damn sure don't want him anywhere around your team as a coach.

He would win more at LSU than A&M because we’re a better football school but He isnt my
Top choice.
In your best years, you’re never in contention.

Unless Jimbo has the incredible all around skills to run a massive organization like LSU. And he may be great. But he left FSU when he saw the talent (Winston) slipping away. Was it sloppiness? Bored? Or whatever, Jimbo quit on FSU. Will he quit on ATM?

Really? So if AU beats Bama, who represents the West?

I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable about it, but I don't see the fascination with Jimbo Fisher.
After the National Championship, Florida State under Fisher was on the decline. FSU was undefeated in the regular season in 2014 but was destroyed in the playoffs. Then it was two decent but by no means great seasons. Then he left FSU in 2017 with a miserable .500 record.
In his first season at A&M, the Aggies improved but weren't great. 2019 wasn't very good. Only one loss in the shortened 2020 season was very good. Although they beat Alabama, the Aggies seem to have regressed this year.
Fisher left FSU a dumpster fire. He's done OK to fairly good at A&M. Of course, he'd be an improvement over Orgeron. But shouldn't LSU be shooting for more than what Jimbo Fisher has produced?

So true, and this is a huge factor for me because unlike some folks I care about the type of offense we end up with. I love cutting edge, big time offense.

I don't know if Jimbo is the answer but he is 17-3 in his last 20 games while O is 10-10.

Hard to really make that meaningful when most of those happened during the covid year.
Any idea what his SEC record is since joining?

And Riley is 18-2 (losses to 2 unranked Big 12 teams)

Contention of getting Slaughtered by UGA in the SEC title game is not the same as National Title contention.

Which is great when you consider he beat Bama, AU, and possibly LSU in one season, BUUUUUT because he also lost to State and Arkansas, he’s not in the driver’s seat in the West.
That sums up Jimbo to me: the W/L column looks good, but he has some warts when it comes to losses way too often (look at his losses to unranked teams at FSU).
He’s an excellent recruiter, one of the best, and he’d probably stabilize the program, I just don’t see him taking us where we want to go.

Who cares? No one is advocating for Orgeron to remain the HC. I doubt the LSU job search is limited to one criteria: "is he better than Orgeron?"

What has Aranda and Tucker done thats better then Jimbo?
