They have ironed it out. Verge is willing to wait for Kiffin to finish this season.

I disagree. I think it’s obvious at this point that he wants to stay at Ole Miss.

He’s for sure trying to convince Ole Miss to allow him to coach the team through the playoffs.

I think that’s the case if Ole Miss agrees to some changes.

You need to close this board and wait for something to break. You aren’t built for this.

You’ve gone from melt to “he’s coming” several times each day.

While I agree with you, that situation does not favor LSU

What is stopping him from signing the extension then?

He's starting to get annoying.

The thing about that is if he waits then obviously they don't have anything in writing yet. You run the risk of him changing his mind in the end and then we've missed the portal window and don't get Kiffin.

Let him do both

If Kiffin is preparing for the playoffs for months, he simply cannot recruit and manage the portal for LSU, which is indispensable.

He would be doing both jobs if he stayed at OM, just like every other coach in the playoffs. This can be done. The issue is that it needs to be decided one way or another. LSU and Kiffin need to be firm that he’s signing now, then OM can decide from there. They need to stop giving OM leverage.

I think you are right.

Yep, why wouldn't he? To me, this is an indication that he builds real relationships with his players that are meaningful to him. I'm not sure we have had that in the last 3.5 years.

I think it’s clear he wants to do both and OM is trying to use that as leverage to get Kiffin to stay. Kiffin keeps trying to play both sides to get everything he wants while LSU is afraid to push him too hard for fear he’ll choose OM if they do.

Kiffin needs to decide which of the two goals is the most important to him and give an ultimatum to the other side. If coaching at LSU is more important, then he needs to be clear with OM that he’s leaving no matter what and they can decide if they want to let him finish the playoffs. If the playoffs are more important, he needs to let LSU know they will have to wait until he’s done because OM won’t release him until they’re done. In that case, LSU should just move on.

I honestly don’t know, at this point. I hope that’s the case though.

If Kiffin accepts the HC position, in no way should LSU let him continue coaching Ole Miss thru the remainder of their season. One of the key aspects of the contract is what is the start date.

LSU cannot wait until Ole Miss season is over before his start date b/c worst case scenario 1) he’s absent from the December signing period, 2) delays staff hiring/recruitment while other teams are locking those guys down and 3) most importantly he misses the only transfer portal period for the entire football season. LSU cannot take that chance of not having him on staff.

Additionally, you can’t have a HC for two different teams at the same time. That’s a conflict of interest. It’s impossible for Kiffin to put each universities best interest at the forefront of all his decisions; like player transfer conversations at both LSU and Ole Miss.

Sucks for Kiffin and his players but if he wants the LSU job, LSU should mandate he accept the position full-time now and divests of his Ole Miss HC responsibilities the same day. That’s in LSUs best interest…

I agree

That’s what he’s struggling with

Even Nick Saban keeps saying “it should be what’s best for the players”
And he should be able to coach his team

So who is telling him no?

LSU or Ole Miss

Agreed.
And Ole Miss would be retarded to allow him.

Thank you. The only thing that will speed this up is Ole Miss' refusal to let him decide until then. He is going to coach this team as long as they'll let him. I don't blame him.
