one of the coaches that has a team in a conference championship.
This eliminates all other coaches, such as, Kiffin and Stoops.
This leaves Aranda, or Fickell. (Edit to remove Campbell)

The recruits have to be considered, so if it was a person coaching in the NFL coach, it should be announced now. It is highly unlikely the new coach is in the NFL.

SW said he had his man, and everyone would like the hire. I expect he had his man soon after he told "O" it was over. At that time it was not known who would be playing for conference championships.

It has to be Fickell or Aranda. They may have had an announcement set up today pending whether Cincy or Baylor was in the playoff hunt or not.

Let’s revisit this at the end of the week because I still think “no interest in Riley from LSU” is a steaming pile of BS.

The list narrowed itself down.

Why Campbell? No way Woody would hire mediocre Campbell for his legacy hire!

SW has not told anyone anything. That is poster quotes that have no basis in fact

Link? I’ve seen “insiders” that are wrong on everything else say this.

You don’t know it’s not someone in the NFL. You don’t know who is on the list, as proven by the confirmation that Riley was never offered.

None of us knows.

And if Scott is looking for the best coach for the future, he’s not handicapping his search to avoid losing some of the recruits from one freaking class.

It doesn't have to be a coach who is still coaching. If he truly did strike out on Riley, it's unlikely that he could go to his second choice (if he's still available) and come to an agreement on everything in 24 hours. It might be someone still coaching, but there's no reason to believe it has to be.

I would think and NFL coach would result in the latest announcement date.

I am basing this on the comment, "Everyone will love the hire" or something similar to that in which SW made it seem he already had his guy.

Ours is better than Alabama’s and the portal makes it easy to pick up where he left off.
