Information from USC Side and Talk Between SC/OU Insiders

Hey everyone. I figured I would let dust settle a bit before I posted from what I know from the USC side (and somewhat OU side).
I went to USC. One of my frat brothers was at a booster golf tournament for USC a couple of weeks ago that our AD Bohn played and spoke at. He texted me right after to tell me what Bohn said about our next HC.
Bohn told the room that our new coach was already in place, that it was a home run hire, and that everyone would be very pleased. That's it.
It's easy to speculate from that, but this deal with LR would seem to point that way. This didn't come together overnight.
There has been a lot of feedback from people over on the USC boards with OU insiders. Both teams folks that are more in the loop are saying LR had been asking for resources (within recruiting-- multi media staff, NLI staff, other ancillary things) that the brass at OU would not sign off on. (USC has a larger recruiting staff than OU which actually surprised me.) He was also not happy that OU made the decision to move to the SEC without his input.
One OU person said players had been asking for meetings with LR since last week, and had gotten no response. They also said people in the Switzer Center said something seemed "off" with LR the past week or so.
OU insiders said they are firmly convinced the LSU part WAS a smokescreen. He was not going to leave a SEC team for a SEC team. How much he played with Woodward and the LSU brass I do not know.
I am not here to flame or troll, but only to give insight where it might be beneficial to those trying to figure this out from the other teams involved.
However, this almost definitely seems like it was sewn up and kept airtight quiet (the only people who had any knowledge of the hire from the SC side was our AD and Asst. AD, as well as the BOT and President). Also remember that SC has been looking for a new coach since mid-September, so the feelers had been out for a while so if LR wasn't happy with OU, SC probably would have known some time ago.
This was a premeditated move that had been orchestrated probably at least two weeks ago, and probably started a long time before that.
(I posted this in another thread, but thought it might go unnoticed by some that it may be relevant to.)

Linehart and Bush said this same thing earlier today.

That being weeks ago, it would make sense.
Those deals don’t come together overnight.

Thanks for the insight
Your new coach did his old team dirty

And I'm sure with his frequent recruiting visits to the region it would be easy to have a meeting.

So just like we said. Riley is scared of The SEC.
I think USC got a good coach but I’d be worried about how well he can build a program. USC has been very meh since Carroll bolted for NFL.
USC is obviously attractive on a lot of fronts but it takes more than the LA spotlights to build a program.
Riley inherited a good program that needed a minor facelift.
USC needs a lot more work.
Riley at LSU made a little more sense to me because I don’t think it’s a complete rebuild. We shall see.

Riley brought his DC with him, so that home run hire might just be a double instead.

I believe every single word.
The only LSU noise was by his agent to probably get another million or 2 out of USC...OR.....
It was planned and coordinated by both sides.
Bottom. Line is that SW is looking like a fricking moron unless he has the same type if deal in place before initiating the O firing.
I'm leading towards him being a dumbass

He didn't. Talks were never serious and were over a couple of weeks ago. SW never thought Riley was a serious candidate.

I’d say that I would laugh if LR fricked USC over for the NFL in a few years the same way he did Oklahoma, but if his actions this weekend are any indication, he won’t have the balls to leave for the jump in competition.

Just a hunch: this isn't SW's first rodeo, its plausible LSU realized LR was committed elsewhere and allowed the rumors to heat up on purpose. Riley comes out of this thing looking like a complete douchebag & LSU had all kind's of cover to negotiate with someone else.

yeah I think anyone that believes USC swooped in at the final hour and stole Lincoln doesn't get how this stuff works. This was in the works for a minute and Feldman knew it
Now the question really is, was LSU duped with Trace and Lincoln negotiating in bad faith or did LSU just allow themselves to be used to give themselves cover fire?

No shite?
Riley had specifically made far more effort to recruit Cali and other west coast players this year. This deal had been in the works for months now.

Hey, thanks for sharing what you know.
Lincoln Riley has made himself look a bit punkish, over the last few days, but I hope the hire works out for USC. College football is better when you field a quality team.
That said, I look forward to crushing your spirits in 2024.
