Kelly told Dan Patrick it was a "whirlwind deal." Probably a great save from Woodward after Riley fell through.

I'm sure they already knew each other, and there was no reason for Kelly and Woodward to talk until the deal was done with Kelly's agent.

if true, that says alot...
what is his expertise?.. saw he played LB, but his offenses at Cinncy and Notre Dame seem to be pretty good and stable.

you have to read between the lines on these things. There are intermediaries involved so when someone says I haven't talked, or the deal wasn't done until, etc. you can't exactly take that at face value.

That struck me as a little odd. Kelly's agent has authority to negotiate terms with a school without Kelly's knowledge? I had not thought of that being a dynamic. Clearly, this deal did not come together, start to finish starting Saturday night. Was Kelly really in the dark until then?

Agree.
Right now the ND staff that he wants are exploring their futures at ND and assessing the chances of elevation elsewhere.
Right now he mostly knows what he thinks of LSU’s current staff, but he is meeting them for the first time.
Right now LSU is reaching out to agents of those he’s interested in.
I expect next Sunday and/or Monday to have coordinators in place and 90+% of staff named.
