Carroll has also said Tommy Casanova was one of his favorite players ever.
I can vouch for this. I’m not sure where I saw this because it’s been many years ago now, but I do remember Pete Carroll talking about how big of a fan he was of Tommy Casanova.

Well Pete was being objective and keeping a promise to monte.. when two of the greatest CFB coaches of all time tell you it's LSU... well . Game over...

I read somewhere he grew up in California listening to LSU on WWL and has been a Tiger fan for years.

was coming here to post this. He has talked about LSU in the past and even said he wish he had coached here

in the coaching circles, LSU is viewed right there with OSU and Texas. Recruiting and resources are ELITE.
This is, arguably the best job in the country.
People love to start the dumb shite of Lanes going to bolt for Alabama... Alabama isn't a better job. Its on the same level as LSU, its just benefitted from the greatest coaches of all time. When Alabama doesn't have all time great coaches, they aren't so great...
Lane wouldn't leave LSU for Alabama, unless he was in a bind. It is a lateral move, at best.

^ This.
Coaches, players, media and fans all have unique narratives built on their particular view of the LSU program.
I've always been fascinating seeing how HS players we're recruiting couldn't see the dumpster fire we saw as fans when we sucked.
Kiffin yesterday did a great job explaining what was most important to him and what brought him here.

LSU may not like USC, but it's not the other way around.
I had a lot of family in CA. From what I can tell this was definitely true. The hate back in 2003 was one sided.
