BT has a nice gig with Performance. He’s not going anywhere

Handsome Pete frick off, BY could coach em up better than fricking Steeples and Raymond.

So you want someone who's never been a coach to be our DBs coach? Just because you played the position doesn't mean you can coach it. I would rather get someone with proven success. You can't waste time and money hiring guys just because they're former players. Kelly can't risk that.

What’s his coaching resume?

Can you list one single bit of evidence that he knows how to coach at the college level?
No, you can't.
I'm glad you don't have to make important decisions in the world that affects me.

Maybe we could get Tommy Casanova in here to coach DBs. He was after all an All-American at LSU. Slam dunk.

I prefer Harry Coleman.

Absolute truth. In fact there is a school of thought that superstars make terrible coaches because they simply don’t understand how players just don’t “get it” like they could.
Montana, Manning, Aikman, Favre, Elway, Young— think they would be good coaches? If someone said “yes”my response would be “why haven’t they sought it out”

The simple answer is that they have tons of money, enough to certainly not require them to go recruiting a bunch of 18 yr old primadonnas.

Favre coached high school in Mississippi for a while. I don't know if he still does or not.

We’ve tried celebrity coaches with Carter and Faulk. Didn’t work. Just because it’s a name you know doesn’t mean the person knows how to coach and can recruit.

Irrelevant. How dumb are you to think BK would hire some dude off the street with no coaching experience just because he used to play CB? GFY.

And often in the cases of superstars, they are so physically gifted they have been able to overshadow less-than-perfect technique or weaker work ethic.
The theory would also be that the best coaches are the over-achievers as players. The ones that weren't born with all the physical advantages but clawed their way onto rosters by busting their arse and being very coachable.
