re: I hope, for Florida's sake, that all of you are right about Coach Prime...

Man it’s such a waste for Prime to be all the way out in California. Dude needs to be a head coach at a D1 program in the south. He’s entertaining as hell.

TIL I learned that the University of Colorado is in California.

This is a moronic statement.

I think a lot of you don't realize how bad the Pac 12 is. I think Deion can win 7-9 games next season if his recruiting keeps going well.
I don't think you realize how bad Colorado is or how improved the Pac 12 has been.
The Pac 12 finished with the same number of teams in the final CFP rankings as the SEC did, which is twice as many as the B1G had.
CU has only been to two bowl games since joining the Pac 12 (with USC and UCLA being down), and you're already giving Deion an SEC job in 3 years before he's even coached a snap at this level.

In thought the same thing. Norvell had better sustain and compete for an ACC Tier in for the next three years.

You do understand he was a candidate during Mal Moore rien and he hired Shula. Shula was hired because he could be fired. He was not going to hire Croom because the PR of Alabama firing him when it was time. Kind of an open secret with the Red Elephant Club.
Next time I am at shoal creek I will get you some signed affidavits from the Red Elephant club members.
Hey, but you do you

Norv seems to have FSU headed in the right way. I don't see it happening right now unless he way underperforms. They did a good job in portal this year and beat LSU. I wouldn't doubt this 2nd match up is a top 10 one between 2 teams. He's again attacking the portal and getting good signs. He just got 2 of the best TEs in the portal one of which is super dynamic but was underused.
This will probably be one of LSU's toughest games next season SEC or not. Travis also came back which is a surprisingly good QB nobody talks about.

consistently win 8+ games a season. that's about the peak for a school like colorado.
That’s really tough to say. From about 1988-2001 they were without a doubt a top 10 program. Since then they have won more than 3 conference games 3 times. They have been really, really bad.
When they were good, they had a very solid pipeline of players from California. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that CU football went downhill when USC started winning big again around 2001-2002. CU’s run happened when USC was overall down during the 1990’s.

I respectfully disagree. That conference is prime (pun intended) for a new national power to rise.
Prime can cherry pick California kids and recruit nationally. They'll be in the playoff convo in a couple of years.

Prime probably isn't the coach who's taking them there... he'll increase the talent and get them winning a few games, but being who he is and how he is, he'll have a ceiling in P5 football

No is scared of him. I pray Alabama would be dumb enough to hire him. But they aren’t. Dion is a attention whore, con artists.

Deion has to prove he can develop and recruit OL, DL and LBers. Until that happens he will improve Colorado but he won't win the Pac 12.

Because the biggest teams are about to bolt.

This isn't reality. He snagged a couple of OK guys late in the class and his big lands so far are his son and Hunter. Both were likely following him regardless of where he went. We have no idea how he'll actually recruit when his pitch isn't 90% hype of moving to a P5 program.

Again, there's reality and then there's this.

Great staffs can’t be kept… they’re made up of ambitious guys who get promoted, and Prime would have to replace some every year

I beg to differ. With NIL, playoff expansion and new coaches I believe we will see new "players" vying for playoff spots. Why not Deion? Deion has a lot of corporate connections that he can persuade to give NIL deals to athletes. I know it's unethical but it can happen.
Posted on 12/26/22 at 12:50 am to Shaft Williams
Deion has some learning to do but the PAC 12 is wide open. USC and Utah are far from world beaters. Deion will be able to compete with Utah soon since USC and UCLA are leaving for the Big 10.
Posted on 12/26/22 at 1:03 am to Shaft Williams
I just think Deion chose the wrong team to try this at. Other than the Pac being open moving forward, not much there, there. Resources and support not great.
He should have been more patient but I understand how he couldn't wait to leave Jackson, MS.
