-Has been a HC at 2 different programs with success
-P5 coaching experience
-Built Iowa St from the ground up
-Punches above his weight class (able to beat teams with significantly better talent)
-3x Big XII coach of the year
-MAC Coach of the year

76-46 coaching record
Offensive coach with experience coaching OL.
His 3 star QB Purdy has a career 67.5% completion percentage (started all 4 years) 74 TDs passing, 19 rushing.

HC 4 years at Toledo and in his 6th year at Iowa St. meaning he won't job hop. he's a program builder.
Iowa St had won 5 or more games in the Big XII once since 1977. Campbell has done it 4 of his first 5 seasons.

I can ride with that. Campbell it is.

ETA: This guy who is friends with Woodward told me Campbell is a done deal.

There, now we got a source. Let's Ride.

I'm partial to the "Matts" --

Rhule and Campbell, in that order.

Matt Rhule is championship ready from day one, probably feeling relaxed after getting out of the NFL.

Matt Campbell would need to grow into the job, IMO.

I like Campbell a lot as a football coach.

My concern/unknown with him would be recruiting. Can anyone speak to his overall recruiting abilities? Obviously it’s Iowa St so I wouldn’t necessarily expect “great” recruiting, but I don’t think he’s ever had a class crack the Top40.

Does anyone recall how Chizik’s classes were at IowaSt? Just curious to compare

He would be a good choice. If Brohm takes out tOSU this weekend, Brohm's stock takes off.

How many Top 10 teams has he upset at ISU. That is not a slight either, I feel like every single year ISU ruins at least one team's hopes and dreams.

Would be an absolute disaster! Dude is not interested in the type of recruiting that needs to be done at a school like LSU. He is right were he needs to be. Can the guy coach? Yes! But some are built to excel at lower pressure programs.

This is the first year that Iowa St had any expectations. Preseason #7 and #8 in the polls. Result currently unranked. But Yay! He just beat a horrible Texas team, so now we want him

I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere he's not a big fan of the south and he doesn't like the recruiting culture. He doesn't seem like he'd fit into LSU at all. Not necessarily bad mouthing the southern culture it was more he was not a fan of other things. I don't think LSU is interested in him and his feeling is probably mutual. I could be wrong on that though. I would have questions about his recruiting capability though. I've read he's not big into it which would make sense but you can't survive at a major program without being 50% into recruiting. It's everything. Some would even say it should be majority.

The main reason he originally got the Iowa State job was his reputation as a recruiter.

LINK

At Iowa State, he took the philosophy of first locking down his in-state recruiting instead of getting the left-overs of more talent rich states.

LINK

LINK

At LSU, locking down the state brings championships, and heading to Florida and Texas doesn't bring left-overs, but stars.

You can't compare his recruiting at ISU with what we are accustomed to in the SEC. You have to compare it to previous years of recruiting at ISU.

Can you provide sources for any of these claims? I'm really interested to read more about his disdain for the south and big-time college football recruiting.

I posted proof that he can. Where is your proof that he can't. If your idea of proof is recruiting rankings compared to SEC schools don't bother. Post his rankings verses ISU's historic rankings.
