There's a reason agents like working with Woodward and don't just screw him over like they did Alleva

Riley was expected to be hired. They had a caterer reserved, their bb and mbb coaches following him, and the graphics were already being made.

"The same after taxes"? You are ignoring the huge difference in the cost of living between L.A. and Norman. Plus L.A. is a living, walking hell hole to live in now.

Riley likely not offered. If not, the. All this BS about him being afraid of SEC is just that, BS.
Riley looked in the mirror and didn't see a coach that could succeed in the SEC. Sure, he could take the gig, make tens of millions of dollars, but then, five years in, and being a collosal failure, his stock (and asking price) would get cut in half. He looked into the crystal ball and knew his limitations and so he chose the easiest, least difficult way to stay on top.

Not trying to start anything - and I can’t afford to live there either - but very few people making that kind of money would turn down living in L.A. for Baton Rouge.

It’s a whole different world than the one you and I live in baw

I think it’s pretty clear the USC negotiation was happening days prior to the announcement. When everyone thought we were talking to Riley, we were actually talking to Kelly.

The ND AD alluded to this in his interview

LSU offered Kelly back in October. The reason I know this is the terms 10 years/95 million. Kelly accepted. The ND AD basically said they’ve known for weeks he was leaving. If they had only offered Kelly in recent days it would have been more than 95 million. Why? Because Mel Tucker who is well below BK got a 10 year 95 million contract too. Kelly could have gotten more but he kept his word from October.

The agent (Kelly and Riley) then used the LSU smoke screen to get his other client (Riley) and insanely good deal with usc by creating the illusion he was going to LSU. In reality he never was going to LSU because we already had kelly locked up and he knew that since he represents both of them. The agent played the shite out of usc for more money and perks. I mean that’s exactly what I’d have done if I was repping both of them.

That's done damn strong logic right there. I kept wondering to myself why the contract honestly wasn't for more with the Mel Tucker deal. Honestly you would think they would have squeezed for another million a year at that point to bump him over Mel by a good bit due to his pedigree over a hot new name.

Either way it went down I'm jacked over this hire. I was happy the search was over more than anything last night. Then i had time to process more and Woodward shattered the backboard on this one. Something that was right in front of everyone's face and just never put much thought into because it seemed impossible. Pulling from a potential playoff team no less. Impressive stuff
