Ok cool they are spending 30 million because of bad decisions Woodward presided over.
What the frick were his choices last year?
Fire O- it was too early for that on the heels of a title and the COVID issues just made that even more unrealistic. He would have gotten on the wrong side of potential replacements acting too early.
Cut off the tap- It was obvious O made some really poor hires before 2020, but Woodward is smart enough to know he couldn’t win without good coordinators. Woodward would have lost the fans before the season started rolling Pelini and the rest of the crew back out there for a repeat of the shitshow.
Give O a legitimate last shot- none of these are good choices, but Woody picked the best one. O’s reward for 2019 was getting a real shot to turn things around this season. It didn’t work out and now he’s gone.
Joe Alleva is the one who set the table for all of this. Woodward couldn’t sweep it all way in one motion. He did what he needed to do and now he has his shot to really prove his worth with this hire.
As for all the money- grow the frick up. Welcome to big boy P5 football. Pay up or move down the ladder and don’t worry about competing for titles anymore.

Should not have given Ed O and extension or buyout, IMO
This stupid fricking Joe Dean-eske move would have every candidate worth a damn turning their noses up at this job today. For all of you who’ve missed the million times smarter posters have tried to remind you- COACHES WHO WIN A TITLE GET PAID AND THE EXTENSIONS ALWAYS HAVE A BUYOUT.
Our fanbase is so damn cheap and short-sighted.

Woodward is great at fixing his mistakes with other people’s money.
But that’s fine. A bad financial decision doesn’t bother me as long as it gets the guy you want. Thankfully O was given limitations this year on coordinators. But I had no problem with O getting full freedom to hire his guys the season after winning a nc. If he had given O limitations then, we would have criticized him for that. You want a guy, we hire said guy. Why is that a bad thing? Doesn’t cost the university.

Ok, I'm just gonna believe yall that he is a good AD.
TAF is going to need money so yall don't bitch about rising ticket prices, donation fees, concessions, and parking.
You're right PoppaD, I think we all learned something here today and we're beginning to question everything because of your insight
LSU never should've fired Orgeron, now it's clear

Dude, I have no idea. I’m no deep insider.
I think they’re going after Franklin hard rn. I’m hoping that works.
After that things get dicey. You had kiffin as a strong, guaranteed 2nd option, but this past weekend was a circus in Knoxville. So I don’t know if that turned off the administration. I think it did.
Mel Tucker Im hoping fades from popularity in the next few weeks. I know he has people voicing for him on the BOS, but I think some bad loses may kill that. I don’t know though. I think if they miss on Franklin they’re going to push even harder for him.
So then you’re down to the lower tiers. But I really feel like it’s going to come down to those two. I hate to say it. So I think everyone needs to hope for Franklin and/or pray msu crashes and burns
But honestly, who knows. Someone else could emerge. Jay Johnson kinda came out of left field, but not really. You had some people calling it but were dismissed. So I don’t know.

Of course "O" needs to go. Did I question that?
What I questioned is if the boards hero, the head of athletic department, Woodward was as good as claimed.
All I've heard is how great Woodward is and maybe he is. Im no insider I dont know nothing, except some athletic programs at LSU have had turmoil and Woodward is the head man over them.

LSU isn’t paying for any of that bruh.
Love how folks always so this but sometimes athletic departments are on the hook for those buyouts.
$30 million ain't chump change and to say unnamed "wealthy donors" will just pick up the tab is a little premature.

Not your money. The muh buyout crowd has a fetish for OPM and it's a bad look.

I'd say Woodward has a fetish for other people's money. How many times can he go to these "wealthy donor's" hat in hand?

Sounds like YOU have a fetish for Woody and other peoples money.
Woodward is just doing his job. His job IS to spend other peoples money.
Your whole premise is retarded.

Coach O is getting 17 million
I read to buyout his current staff is 9 million.
Pelini got bought out at 4 million.
Lenehan got 1 million
Cregg is suing the University
The football program makes $150,000,000 a year. Who gives a frick. If a business grosses $150,000/year and loses $30,000, that isn’t significant. I get that some of y’all can’t wrap your brains around how a business that makes a shite ton of money works, but $30,000,000 isn’t significant to our athletic department

Someone please settle my fears and convince me that the man pulling the strings (Woodward) is actually good at this.
Ask Tennessee fans if they would have rather paid Pruitt. Gonna be some mud slinging going on in Rocky Top over his buyout lawsuit if they don't pony up.

Why do you care about the money? You have no clue what the new SEC revenue is going to look like with the new TV contracts.
Scott’s job is to do that all within budget. Why would you think he is not taking care of the money??

How about don’t “believe” a message board and fricking pay attention to his track record as an AD, both at LSU and his previous stops.
Or you can just keep wringing your hands about a piddly amount of money that you don’t even have to pay and asking if he’s any good.
