What’s “greener” than a Top 5 coaching position?

Does it bother me we might hire a guy that wants to be here so bad he would abandon that good of a situation?

Not really.

Yes, it bothers me immensely. However, as proven by the vast majority of responses to your question...it does not bother most here. I have determined this to be due to the fact that douchebags obviously can't hate on the douchebaggery of others or it would then reflect negatively on their personal douchebaggedness. Therefore I have concluded with a relatively high level of confidence that douchebags love them a douchebag.

He doesn’t want the spotlight on himself. You can tell it’s difficult for him, but he should still pursue what he wants.

It’s not his fault they have early signing day too early.

I actually like his character very much. I like how he answered questions.

We’re still talking about Lane Kiffin?

Of course it isn’t going to bother most LSU fans. Their school is going to benefit (presumably) from this coaching move.

And it shouldn’t. It’s not up to LSU fans to worry about the general state of college football or the conditions that make this type of situation possible.

They worry about LSU and that’s all they should worry about.

Like Saban said, if you don’t like the system then tackle the system.

I personally wish Lane would’ve (again presumably) chosen to stay at Ole Miss as I think he’s in a great situation and has built a solid consistent winner and “loyalty” is an old fashioned virtue that this country in general could benefit from in many ways if it made a return.

But it’s not even really up to Kiffin to “save the integrity of CFB” so to speak. He too is just benefiting from the structures in place.

If a successful Lane is leaving LSU for Alabama in 5 to 7 years, LSU fans might not be feeling quite the same….but that’s just fans being fans of their school. Nothing wrong with that.

So LSU should limit themselves to coaches not successful enough to have a playoff team? This isn’t a character issue. It’s a calendar issue made worse by the expansion of the playoffs to 12 teams. Kiffin would be the first, but he’s far from the last unless the calendar or rules change.

I guarantee you he would want to coach in the playoffs. The calendar is the issue and doesn’t allow for it. LSU hires him they are going to expect him to be on staff for the transfer portal window.

It would just go to show how much he values the LSU job and wanting to move up from Ole Miss

Not really

can’t go out and actively convince a chick to leave her husband and then get the ick that she would leave her husband

you have to have the confidence you’re not a stepping stone job

Oh, Les gone. It was Herbstreit, (and Howard behind the scenes), breaking the story early that killed the deal.

Yes,
And Lane has failed at many places.
LSU is short sighted and has the blinders on.
I don't get it.
