You’re assuming someone will pay that amount. Looking for a job is easy to do. Doesn’t mean he has to accept anything

Easy.

You interviewed at Boston College and they told us that they offered you the job, but you turned it down. Explain yourself.

Is that job open?

If so the last guy made 7 million a year. Let's say he signs a 4 year deal.

LSU amount just went down to 26 million.

Hes gonna settle. And he SHOULD have taken the 35 million they offered.

He was NEVER going to get 54 million.

This is a good sign in that the new coach probably wants everything clean and tidy when he comes in

This may end up saving LSU money. Some school is dumb enough to pay him big money.

Same as Miles. He eventually came back and settled.

BK should have taken the 35 with no strings.

BK and his lawyers maximized the chaos of the fired AD, Governor’s intervention, and the bungled firing.

Remove Jeff Landry, and everything goes a lot smoother, and a cheaper agreement would have been reached within 10 days.

Thankfully boosters stepped up to erase BK from the scene.

He will coach again, I feel like he’s a fit for Penn state

If he does coach again then he's an idiot for not taking the $30M settlement that was on the table.

Let's say he gets a job at half the LSU salary, $5M/year. That means LSU only pays him $24M over the next 6 years since his other job will pay him $30M.

Not that I'm complaining, if he gets another job it could end up playing in LSU's favor that he didn't settle. But I have a feeling he'll find a way to abide by his seeking employment clause but still not coach.

Does a media job still apply with the offset clause or does it have to be a coaching job?

any job applies

if he was willing to work 6
more years gonna he will go find a job and then settle with us

(new job + settlement) > Buyout

that’s how you play it if you’re Kelly

I’m not sure you can declare victory yet. Walking away from the table could be what it takes to get Kelly to come back with a serious offer. I guess it depends how much he wants an ongoing battle over whether he’s looking for work “in good faith”. He must have no intention of doing so if he didn’t accept a $30M offer. Franklin got a $41M contract. Kelly would only need a $25M deal to come out ahead with that offer.

The school says it will pay the required buyout - $54M over 6 years - as long as Kelly meets his obligation to find another job.

Is LSU off the hook if he lands another coaching job? Sorry for my ignorance.

Listen if he wants the job he’ll take offset but if he wants to retire on LSU’s 54 million he can tank as many interviews as it takes.

What’s LSU gonna do if he doesn’t get a job offer? File suit, subpoena other AD ‘s and try to get testimony about their hiring process?
