Every single person that was mentioned for the Bama job had the same agent, Jimmy Sexton, as Saban. Sexton was seen in Tuscaloosa the day after Saban’s retirement. It’s almost like Sexton had a Zoom call with all of them and said, “Whoever wants it gets it, and we will leak everyone’s name so you all get pay raises.”

They waited long enough for Norvel, Sark, and Lanning to get big pay raises before DeBoer agrees to become the next coach. Sounds a little too calculated to me. lol

It's not a conspiracy at all. Deboer was the hire from the beginning.

That's probably what happened and why he is the beat agent.

Jimmy has been playing this game a long time. That’s why he’s the best.

Not a conspiracy theory at all really. I had heard years ago that there are very few agents around for coaches. And Jimmy Sexton has the lion's share of them. So Sexton does his standard routine of starting his own rumors about coaches. I believe the same thing happened with the supposed interest by LSU of Jimbo Fisher a couple of years ago. Jimmy boy no doubt played that to the hilt and guess what...Jimbo got that ridiculous upgraded contract extension and Jimmy Sexton got part of it.

True but once James Franklin’s name is mentioned, maybe just chill.

Thats pretty much the game every offseason. Kiffin got his raise last year. This year, Sexton helps Byrne work a deal w Deboer in exchange for Byrne floating the names that Sexton wants him to.

That is a very well thought out and cogent line of reasoning. I think that sounds pretty darn likely.

This isn’t a conspiracy theory. It’s exactly what happened. They all got massive raises out of it

I listened to an interview with the FSU AD last night & he said Norvell told him he had been contacted by Greg Byrne. Why would Byrne need to do that when Norvell's agent is sitting directly across from him? The only reason is so that Norvell can tell the FSU admin that Bama wants him & he needs more money to stay.

Yes, he really was. Greg Byrne (Alabama AD) just confirmed it in the press conference that he flew out to Seattle on the day Saban retired (Wednesday). He officially met with DeBoer on Thursday.

An agent doing what an agent does is a conspiracy?

Say what?

of course he’s going to say that. He’s not going to let any fan or booster know publicly that maybe DeBoer was maybe #2 or #3 behind Lanning, Smart, or Norvell.

Jimmy probably chartered an empty flight from Eugene to Tuscaloosa.

100%. It was reported early on that Deboer had a contract extension on the table and had not signed it. That was the first clue. There was no upside financially for Deboer to be announced immediately. It gave time for Sexton's other clients “rumored” to be in the mix to keep quiet, get an extension by their current school, then announce they were not leaving. Once that ran its course, then Deboer was given the Green Light.

Deboer is a great coach. Unfortunately, he will do very well at Alabama.

Believe that further into that flight tracker thread, it was determined that is was an AWACS Military Plan vs. private aircraft.
